For me, the .54 Woodsrunner is a light rifle and as such I don't like getting beat up when shooting it. My woods are thick so deer are usually close and I mainly like to shoot at targets. So my loading is a lot less I suppose. I shoot .530 ball (223 gr) with 56 gr FFFG Goex and .015 pillow...

Actually, these were my winter projects this year here at our winter home in FL. Keeps me off the streets most days.

Check out the information on this topic in Peter Alexander’s The Gunsmith of Grenville County. He explains and illustrates the sear/trigger relationship very well. I, unfortunately, do not have my copy of his book with me, so maybe someone who does can photo the page(s) and provide them for you.

As far as I know there is not a Kibler-like kit, one that is mostly done for you. I just completed a Kentucky pistol from Clay Smith. His kit is very nice, but not just a “snap together” project. I have built many guns over my life and I found this “kit” to be of great quality and mostly good...

And with a little research, you can actually make them look like originals as compared to just “assembled”.

Did the finishing touches on a pistol I assembled from a Clay Smith Kentucky kit. A bit more challenging than a Kibler, but I wanted a companion pistol for my .54 Woodsrunner.
