WANTED Kit - Shotgun, rifle or handgun

Our German exchange student would like to build a gun and shoot it while he is here. Taking it home is not going to happen. I'd like to find something inexpensive that I can buy or a generous person can donate. I'd even be willing to send it back to whomever provides it this summer, completed. He'd like to do some metal filing, minor engraving, wood finishing, rust or blackening, maybe case hardening. I have the tools and equipment but not a lot of disposable cash to come up with something like this for him.

That was my first pistol build. I left on entirely too much wood. More a club than a pistol. But I was 15 then, pre internet days.

I've got a better idea. @BigSkyRambler, sell ME that pistol kit you have and I'll send @Sparkitoff a rifle kit that I have for the build? Pictures coming.

More pictures that aren't showing. At least I tried.
Not a lot of metal work but a good fun starter kit that I'll probably never get to.
Forgot most of the details but IIRC, it's 45 caliber, percussion, everything is there for the build. Brass thimbles, brass tipped ram rod in the stock.
Got it, decided it was a little too small for my liking. Reminds me of an earlier FIE rifle I still have.
No maker markings (black powder only on the barrel) so who knows who the kit came from. "May" be able to bring up a few more pictures if needed. (may)

I was thinking I would pick up the pistol kit from BigSky Rambler but on second thought, if I didn't build the rifle kit I already have, would I build the pistol kit? Too many irons in the fire!!
So it's more YOUR preference? Think on it and decide.
I can and will pick up the pistol kit just because I already spoke for it. It would be easier to put IT on the shelf. Takes up less room. Thinking we'll wait on YOUR decision, Mike,

I'd recommend a Traditions pistol kit would best meet your criteria.

These are the results of two Traditions pistol kits I assembled:



and they're both pretty fast and easy.
