A Tale of Two 1861 Enfield Musketoons

What would those entail? Without driftable sights I’m at a loss.

A Tale of Two 1861 Enfield Musketoons

Yes, great info. With my PH 1861 I found that I could shoot a large ragged hole at 30 yards but windage was about 2-1/2 inches off. Without any way to correct that I hung it back on my wall.

    Mississippi Rifle PRB help

Thanks @hawkenhunter50. For now I’ll probably just buy some balls to try it out and see how I like it. I appreciate the tips.

    Mississippi Rifle PRB help

Forgive me if this is the sort of question you old timers are tired of seeing, but at the moment I’m limited to using my mobile phone and trying to search past threads for the information I seek is very cumbersome. I have a .54 reproduction Mississippi Rifle with a bore diameter of .538, found...

need help with 44 cal muzzleloaded pistol loading

Well now there’s something I never would have associated together: muzzleloading black powder pistol and Harley Davidson. Thanks for sharing this…oddity?

    Talk about a rare one.

The flash holes in both my brass and my nylon cartridge cases are small enough that they don't leak using 2F Goex. I have a Smith Carbine with nylon cases and those flash holes are large enough that I have to place a piece of tissue paper over the hole to prevent leaks when I load the powder. I...

    Mowrey rifle Fourstock attachment?

I think you’re missing a small wood block that was glued into the forestock with the dowel extending from it. I’ve attached photos of mine with the dowel and glue block intact. Should be an easy fix.

    Talk about a rare one.

I just cast a bunch of bullets for my Burnside. I need to size them but I haven’t yet got a sizer. I’d be happy to drop some in the mail for you if you only need five or six. I also have some brass to sell. PM me if you’re interested.

    Guns International

I was burned when an older member’s account was hacked. I’ve since bought from both older and newer members but only after speaking to them on the phone. Also made new friends that way.

    Guns International

I’m only seeing this thread late on Thursday evening so maybe my response is moot, but I’ve made three or four purchases from Gunsinternational without problems. But since getting burned on this forum a some time ago I always ask to speak in person with anyone I purchase from or sell to. I...

    Enfield 1853 repro identification

First, I am no expert. Second, that looks like a nice gun! And now… Have you removed the barrel to see if there are any clues to manufacturer or the gunsmith who might have defarbed it? I’ve had Todd Watts defarb several of my guns and he re-stamps the original serial number on the underside of...

    Pocket Remington issues.

If you only look at the hole in Stockburn's forehead it's a little hard to tell whether it's from a .31 or a .36. Gotta look at the trigger guard. 😶

    Pocket Remington issues.

Dang autocorrect! I didn’t notice - should have been “wait”!

    Pocket Remington issues.

Funny - I couldn’t think of any humorous quotes from that one. Oh wait - “Put a little ice on that.”

Opinions/Thoughts on the Armi Sport 1863 Sharps Military Percussion carbine

Forum Rule No. 7 does allow this discussion: “Early historic breech loading guns that do not use primed metallic or semi-metallic cartridges and meet the requirements of rule #1 are permitted for discussion.” There are additional rules regarding breech loaders at the bottom of the rules page...

    Starr revolver discoveries

Seems about right. DAs in that condition and price range come up frequently on Gunbroker.com. SAs rarely.

    Starr revolver discoveries

They don't come up often on eBay - I snatched up the last two that I saw, and I think I'm keeping both. 😬 But good luck!

    WANTED Colt Paterson accessories

I’m looking for accessories to build a cased set for a Pietta Paterson: loading tool, five-spout powder flask, capper, and spare cylinder. Since it’s for display, I don’t mind if the cylinder isn’t a Pietta. Let me know what you’ve got!
