Filler for oversized trigger guard inlet

I like the idea of a decorative brass piece. May have to give it a try. This is a cheap Jukar flintlock. It's my first one so it's kind of a practice rifle until I can get a Kibler one day.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Started replacing the old trigger guard on my cva kentucky rifle with a different style. This one is a little shorter so I need to come up with a fix to fill the void? Figured on glueing in a piece of wood but am open to other suggestions.

Filler for oversized trigger guard inlet

I am replacing the trigger guard on my rifle. The new one is about 3/4 inch shorter than the old one. I was going to glue a piece of wood into the inlet to but didn't know if there was another option some knows of that would look good? My other thought was possible a short piece of brass.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I think they used the same sight on the rifles as they did on this pistol but the front sight on the pistol is about 1/3 the size as the rifles.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Was finally able to get my .45 Jukar Colonial sighted in. It was hitting 24" hight @ 15 yards. Just slightly off. 😀 The rear sight had to be filed down to almost half its original height. This caused it to be below the previous notch so i had to deepen the knotch as well as taper the rear part...

    Loose fit of primers

I currently have a decent sized supply of #11 CCI primers for my single shot caplock pistol. The primers are very loose. I know I can pinch them and that's what i have been doing to make them work. I've read where people have used a pointed punch to widen the ends of the nipples. Has anyone...

Giving new life to an old CVA Kentucky Pistol kit

If it's not hitting it much you could file it down to give you some clearance. Or heat it up to melt the solder and remove it.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Purchased a Jukar Colonial a while back. The barrel pin is tapered. The previous owner drilled the pin hole out to the larger side diameter and so the pin didn't do a lot. I welded the hole and re-drilled to the proper diameter hole. The pistol also shot about 24" high at 15 yards so i filed...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Finally got around to load development of my jukar flintlock. I've had it for several years but really started shooting a lot the last year or so. I've been using 50 grains and just plinking targets. It's not bad at 50 grains but really likes 70. I also filmed myself for the first time to see...

I do not. He has a lathe that we did it on. I think that's about the only way I know of to get the hole drilled perfectly straight.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

With the help of my dad, we drilled and tapped the end of a 5/16" rod for a range rod. Then I got the handle made. Just need to do some finishing touches and it will be ready to use.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Was finally able to solder the trigger guard i snapped right at the point where the curl ends into the front flat part tryin to slightly bend it. I've ever had much luck soldering copper pipes but was happy I got this done. It did take me a couple tries but you have to learn somewhere. I also...

    Jukar trigger assembly

You might be able to disassembled the lock, polish it up and then lube with a little grease on the tumbler and sear when reassembling. I have a jukar rifle and that helped my trigger pull.

Suggestions wanted, busted spring on my lock. See image for details...

That is one nice thing about these locks. Spare parts are fairly easy to come by. Mine is a flintlock and I'm actually pretty satisfied with it. Though I've never fored a high quality lock so I don't have much to judge it against but I'm happy with it.

Suggestions wanted, busted spring on my lock. See image for details...

I ordered a spare set of every spring for my Jukar rifle from them as well as several other parts. I almost didn't answer the phone when they called because I didn't realize that's how they did it. From my experience they seem like a good small business that are very helpful when you have questions.

    Traditions, Kentucky rifle

I have an older Jukar rifle which is the same as Tradions. The Gun Works has parts including a tumbler and fly for pretty reasonable. I bought a spare set of springs for my lock from them. My lock benefited a lot from polishing all the surfaces that rub. Mine also like to be well lubed...
