    Friendship "off shelf guns" rules

I was reading through the program for the NMLRA National shoot and found in the rules on page 5 it says " Off shelf guns, chuck guns, muskets, squirrel rifles, one guns, smooth bores and buffalo guns must be inspected by the range officer for sights and authenticity and must recieve a sticker"...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

This was yesturday but went to Friendship with my older brother and took along my 2 yr old son. Didn't do any shooting but did stock up on a few things and window shopped at some nice rifles. My son did pretty good as long as he had a bowl of gold fish to snack on but by 1 he was falling...

What to do with pan primer?

What do you do with your pan primer when shooting from a range box and priming when standing at the firing line? I don't want to just stick it in my pocket to avoid bumping the spout and getting powder in my pocket.

    Simple range rifle stand ideas

I'm wanting to make a stand for my rifle when I'm at the range or for when I clean it outside. I've done some googling but can't find anything I like for a single rifle. Does anyone have pictures of one they have made that they would care to share?

    Track of the Wolf

I ordered some a few months ago and they were also thick. I have a diamond disc for my grinder and thinned them with it. I just clamped the grinder in my vise and held the flint in my fingers. Just have to keep dipping the flint in water to cool it. Worked like a charm for me but i know some...

What's the going rate for something like that?

    TC New Englander Barrel Value

Whats a fair price? I found a TC New Englander .54 cal barrel that is pretty clean except for some pitting around the nipple and breach area and a good bore with minor pitting. Is $150 a fair price for a barrel in this condition?

Cleaning that little space at the bottom of the barrel

After you clean and oil your rifle, store it with the barrel pointing down. This helps keep oil from pooling up in the chambered breech. Before you load your first round at your next outing, plug the hole and pour a little alcohol down the barrel and do the flush out method with the alcohol...

    Who carries a purse?

This is the bag I use. Has several pockets inside and was pretty reasonable on price. I did remove the cheap buckle and installed a round head button stud and use the buckle holes to hold the bag closed. Much easier to open the bag with one hand but enough to hold top closed.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Used my diamond faced grinder disc and trued up some new flints to fit my lock better. I used a Dimond dremmel bit last time but the grinder clamped in a vice is definitely the way to go.

    Traditions lock reliability improvements?

I have also started picking the vent after every shot and blowing into the touch hole to clear everything out. Also, before every time to the range, I plug the vent hole with a tooth pick and pur a little alcohol down the barrel. I then swab a little to remove all traces of oil in the barrel...

    Shooter's Bench

I have seen some made with a folding saw horse when I looked into building one for myself. I just Googled (Diy folding shooters bench) and clicked on the images.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got the Jukar .45 flintlock out and fired off a few shots. Have been very satisfied with the progress I have made. Started off only getting a few shots off before having ignition problems but after some lock work and a better understanding of a reliable, consistent loading process, I was able...

Spring woods walk Shoot at Friendship

Just curious how the woods walk shoot went? I was really hoping to make it this year for my first time shooting at Friendship but have way too much going on. I have been to observe a couple times at the off hand range but haven't seen the woods walk yet.

    Traditions lock reliability improvements?

I pour a little powder in the barrel then tap the butt of the rifle on the ground, or hit the side with my palm, it seems to allow a little powder to trickle down into the breech area. I have also polished my lock, drilled the touch hole out to 1/16" and removed material on the heel of the...

Use a 9mm casing or a cut down 38 special casing and epoxy it in a drilled hole. Did it with one I mad and works great.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Did a little shooting with my jukar flintlock. Was able to get around 20 shot off with little trouble. This is my first flintlock and I'm finally getting it figured out after doing some work to the lock. Cant wait for the day that I can afford a nicer rifle like a Kibler but have been enjoying...
