    Metal Cartridges

No, not those kind of cartridges. I just read an article in backwoodsman magazine about using aluminum foil for pre-made cartridges in colt revolvers. Apparently they were used back in the day except they used lead foil. Has anyone tried these and what was the result?

    Accroutments found at thrift stores.

    Cleaning with starting fluid

A friend of mine recommended cleaning my lock with a spray can of starting fluid. He claims that it melts the fouling out all the nooks and crannys and then dries up with no residue. Has anyone else tried this and does it work as well as he says? :hmm:

    Tight bore in a Pedersoli

I have a Pedersoli .50 Kentucky flint pistol. When I first got it I tried using .015 patches with a .490 ball. This was almost impossible to get down the bore without a major effort. I have tried using .005 patches but I could only find them in .45 cal.. I just measured the bore at .496 on...

    Lyman pistol

I was thinking of getting a Lyman Great Plains pistol to go with a Great Plains rifle in .54. Are they reliable and do they shoot well? Also where is the best (cheapest) place to get one? No kits please.

    Drunk ranger & frontiersmen?

From what I understand the water quality was so bad then, it was safer to drink booze! Being a little "groggy" was better than things like dysentary. :barf:
