What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Changed the sights on my fullstock flint Hawken to a tall rear full buckhorn and tall front silver blade. Now I get to sight it in this week.

Which state is the best for ML?

Minnesota, the northern part of the state where I live produces some big bucks. Deer numbers can fluctuate widely due to harsh winters and wolf predation but We have a 16 day gun season where I use my muzzleloader followed by a 16 day muzzleloader season. Often need snowshoes during the late...

Which state is the best for ML?

I spend about 6 months over winter in Cedar Key. I brought a couple guns with me this year and plan to hunt the Lower Swannee River Wildlife refuge for hogs this January. I hear there’s a good population of them there. How is the deer hunting in the refuge?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Shot my .45 Late Lancaster flintlock at a black powder shoot at a new club I joined while I’m in Florida for the winter. Good group of shooters and very welcoming to a new comer.

TVM Late Lancaster in .45 . . . looking for input.

I have the TVM Late Lancaster .45 with a 42” swamped barrel, German silver hardware. Beautiful handling and shooting gun. Put about 30 rounds through it today. Use it as my target gun.

    Pedersoli underhammer pistols

I have a Cook Underhammer and like it a lot. Handles well for me and fun to shoot. I can’t say I’m any more accurate with it vs my other target pistols but that’s me. I’m not a competitive shooter. Just shoot for fun against myself.

    November 2022 Postal Match

We always enjoyed winter but these days we’re spending our winters in Florida. The Lower Swanee River wildlife area has a hog hunt late January. Plan to break out the .54 Hawken by then and try to get one.

    Pistol trigger question

Thanks Red Owl. I was thinking it was set up to work that way as a “target” set trigger but not having any info on its Origen I didn’t know. It sparks well and shoots well. I’ll leave things just as it is and enjoy the gun.

    Pistol trigger question

Thanks for the replies. Here’s some answers to the questions and a couple pics. 1. the lock works correctly when out of the pistol. 2. the trigger seems to work smoothly and not binding or floppy. 3. the rear screw adjusts the weight of pull. 4. the front screw, when screwed all the way in, sets...

    Pistol trigger question

I picked up this .50 caliber pistol used a while back. I don’t know much about it’s Origen other then it came from an estate sale and has the name “R. Gregg” stamped in extremely small letters on the lock plate. Nicely made and lightly used by it’s previous owner. It only goes into 1/2 cock if I...

    Choosing Snowshoes

Ojibway shoes like T. Hawk says above. Great for getting through thick brush chasing critters or on groomed trails. Stopped using my Alaskans when I got these.

Hege-Siber pistol. Look out 10 ring

Awful fine pistol not to be shooting it. I have a Hege- Sibor and a Cook Underhammer. I end up alternating which one I shoot, usually at the same range outing. The Sibor is so hard to find I would never part with it.
