Where to find 1/4-28 musket nipples in bulk?

They all list them individually, none of them offer nipples in quantity. I'll probably buy them from Log Cabin if I end up buying them by the piece, but figured I'd ask around before I drop a hundred bucks on nipples.

Where to find 1/4-28 musket nipples in bulk?

It's not that I wear them out, it's that most have #11 nipples in them when I buy them and I prefer to swap them over to musket nipples for shooting and hunting. I bought a full case of musket nipples a while back so I'm set for years on those, I want all my rifles to be able to use them.

Where to find 1/4-28 musket nipples in bulk?

Good morning all. Another thread has got me thinking that I have several rifles, Mostly TC, that I haven't converted over to musket nipples yet because they've been sitting in the safe since I bought them. Trouble is I'm all out of nipples. I'd also like to pick up some spares for the future...

    Musket Cap on TC Hawken

It's just a conversion nipple. It has a recess in it for a 209, then you screw on a cap with integral firing pin. There are a few brands around, but I think the best known is Mag-Spark. They're not my cup of tea, but they work well. I can understand the advantages. MAG-SPARK, for instant...

    HELP!

That's the fear that's always steered me away from getting one (that and the price). I love the look of them, and I love side by sides in general, but properly regulating a double gun is an art form.

Building Load For Conical in TC Hawken

I start off low (say 65gr), and work my way up 5 grains at a time, keeping note of the results. At some point the point of impact will stabilize and stay more or less the same for the next 15-20 grains or so, then your group will start opening up because you're overdriving your conical. As an...

    Ithica Navy Hawken value?

I'll relay the story of both of them as best I can, based on my admittedly limited reasearch on the subject. Bud Brown was the gunsmith/owner of Cherry Corners Gun Shop. He designed and produced the Cherry Corners components which had a great reputation among builders, and eventually tooled up...

    Ithica Navy Hawken value?

If you're talking about the one in the classifieds, I'm the buyer on it. While I think the price is very good, and they're both great rifles, the one he's describing is a slightly different model. The .50 Hawken in the classifieds was marketed as the "Hawken Hurricane". They were a more plainly...

    Musket Cap on TC Hawken

I'm speaking specifically of #11 size caps. As far as I can tell, they weren't very popular until the "muzzleloading revival" of the 1970s when CCI chose that as one of their standard sizes. If you zoom in on photos of original Hawken rifles, they appear to be outfitted with musket size...

    Musket Cap on TC Hawken

I agree. Also, Val Forgett Jr. of Navy Arms, who would have had access to anything and everything muzzleloader related, insisted on musket caps for his famous African expedition for the same reason. His endorsement outweighs anything I could say.

Mr. Opbroek, I'd like to be your buyer on this one, pending a "rules" picture if you wouldn't mind. The forum rules now require a photo with a gun and a piece of paper with your username and date on it. It helps protect against spammers and hacked accounts. If you wouldn't mind posting or...

    Musket Cap on TC Hawken

My personal experience, and my main reason for using musket caps, is that just like the posters above, I find them easier to handle. It's not a major issue on the range, but when I climb into a deer stand in the dark and it's 20 degrees, I'd rather not have to fiddle with a #11. Anecdotally...

    Musket Cap on TC Hawken

I thought the first Hawken rifles were flinters before they started making percussion guns? Or do you mean the Hawken plains style rifle? Were they #11 caps? CCI supposedly (according to them) introduced the #11 percussion cap in 1975. I'm pretty sure they were around a lot earlier than that...

Conical bullets best suited for Thompson Center shallow grooves 1/48" barrels.

Mine shoots the LEE R.E.A.L 320gr slugs lubed with Alox over 75-85 grains of FFFg very well. I can load up to about 95 grains before accuracy starts to tail off, but I've made through-and-through shots on bucks with 75 grains.
