Please explain any reasons pedesoli's frontier and blue ridge have such price differences.

I see that bass pro is selling the pedesoli blue ridge substantially less than midway's pedesoli's frontier. What are the differences, similarities between them that causes the pricing at each place? I've done a search that didn't return an answer. Thanks.

buying muzzleloaders, if you had to do it all over what would you have bought and not bought

I should have started with single shot flintlock pistols instead of my revolvers. And I should have bought a 'patterson' revolver.

    Excuse Me, I'm Loading

not sure where to post this: Is there one place, here or somewhere, that details accepted black powder shooting practices and/or procedures? For example: when one changes targets, can fellow participant break down revolver and start to load black powder at table at/next to firing line? Check...

    New gun day!!

Oh, yes. I've learned to be careful with any cap and ball so I don;t get scratched by spent caps. And I do remember about the revolver being small enough that caps do get stuck occasionally. My wife dislikes the gun for that reason but she's obsessed with removing caps as soon as they are...

    New gun day!!

I just took mine to the range 2 days ago. It shoots nice, just like a little gun should. For me, it's almost like shooting my 22. No recoil to speak of and accurate up to 15 yards with no wind. And I am sure it would hurt to receive a RB from it. :). I just wish my fingers were a tad...

Wedge issue with 1861 pietta colt revolver

Finally got out today to shoot. All cylinders fired first time with #11 caps, 30 gr of goex, and 451 RB. After, I took the wedge out (had to push down spring when it meet arbor when exiting). Putting it together, the wedge fitted a bit snug and there was not as much space on the left side of...

Wedge issue with 1861 pietta colt revolver

Got the new wedge from taylors. Looks like the original with the spring a bit high. It catches inside the slot between the barrel and the arbor. Pushed it through. Still need hammer to get wedge back in until spring catches on other side. When starting wedge it goes in in a slant and I need...

Wedge issue with 1861 pietta colt revolver

That is why I ordered a new wedge from Taylors that's supposed to fit the 1861 pietta colt. It also looks a bit longer than usual. Thanks.

Wedge issue with 1861 pietta colt revolver

So far: used 1400 and 1000 'grit' stone on arbor and wedge and wedge slot. Used file on arbor end 1/4 inch and 1/4 inch cylinder end and slot edges. Used metal file on wedge (thin edge). Result: I need to insert wedge screw almost all the way in; barrel goes in to 1/16 inch and completely...

Wedge issue with 1861 pietta colt revolver

I just got a pietta army colt 1861 and the wedge is very difficult. Taking the screw out doesn't help. There's give in the wedge spring but the wedge will only go just past even with the barrel. After wedge is removed I have to use the loading lever to remove barrel. Here are pictures. I...

Wedge pin insertion- Right to Left or Left-Right ?

How about revolver barrels? I always put the wedge in on the screw side. After turning screw in and out it doesn't seem to affect the wedge at all. Am I doing something wrong and/or can I put wedge in either side?

    Kibler

Oh my, I do have that workbench from 30 years ago somewhere in the garage. I guess I should invest in a good size vise unless the workbench is a good enough vise. Thanks, guys. I may order one in a month or two for my wife's birthday. Why Not!?!? :)

    Kibler

All I have is a kitchen nook table and some files, chisels, screwdrivers, a drill and bits. And a very understanding wife. No vise. Is building a Kibler still easy peasy?

    Proper range safety

At this range, all positions are separated by berns and participants are 30 yards apart unless there is a group shoot or lessons. Most times we don't even see another shooter. For 2 years we shot there and all RSOs have seen us and watched us and never said anything. I'll just go to the...

    Proper range safety

I don't know if it's too late to post on this thread so.....I too my BP to a range that has individual 'pens' for shooting. My wife and I get to one, unpack, put unloaded BP pistol, revolver but wait until we finish these before putting our rifles/muskets on the table. We set up targets, come...

    Range box examples

I was afraid of the same thing. What is a problem with weight in carry mode is also a solution in transporting it. It weighs about 35 pounds if I leave all the lead in it. Usually about 30 if I am selective in lead. It sits in the back of my SUV and doesn't move. Usually I have my rifles...

    Range box examples

The RSO at the local range said to try a fishing tackle box. It works pretty well. The shadow in the upper right of top of box is the "muzzleloading forum" sticker. The top drawer that is not pulled out is for 'unmentionables'. I have a separate cleaning bin for when I come home from...
