Can someone tell me what I am looking at when I video'd my GPR bore? from bottom to top.

I just spent the day following some of ML'ers advice. Used finishing pad for metal to smooth; used brushes with width small enough to get into breech. Bore cleaner patches with brushes to further clean. In my first video, you couldn't see the breech from 1/2 down bore. Now you can see it...

Can someone tell me what I am looking at when I video'd my GPR bore? from bottom to top.

Answers: 1. It loads smoothly for the first 2 loads, after that you can feel a bit of tightness at certain places. If I try 4th load, no way will I get RB to bottom. 2. I have to find the patches to see if they are intact. 3. I am working on 60 gr of 2F BP with .490 RB and .005 patch. Good...

Can someone tell me what I am looking at when I video'd my GPR bore? from bottom to top.

here's a side view video that is not very clear. I have a "nidage" endoscope.that I just got. I used various resolutions. Just couldn't get a clear video. I think I need a better quality endoscope.

Can someone tell me what I am looking at when I video'd my GPR bore? from bottom to top.

Yes. After 3 shots, I hit a tight spot about 1/4 down and 1/2 down. The bottom seems to be roomy. After one lube patch, I get 3 more shots before tightness affects the load.

Flintlock. I will use a mirror on the endoscope to show the sides (I hope).

Bore polishing to help with fouling: it worked!

If you play the video, there are white patches and other stuff that I don't know what they could be. I hope people can view the video.

Bore polishing to help with fouling: it worked!

I started and found that I needed to make the pad (Ace metal finishing pad that Mike uses) thinner. I ran two pads through the bore about 30x each. Here is the after process movie. I am hoping someone can describe what I am seeing. Thanks.

The Shooting Has Begun with the GPR

I have the same issues with my GPR. After two shots I need to swab the bore once in order to get 2 more shots. I can feel the uneven surface inside the bore. I studied Duelist1954 video with ACE finishing pad for metal. I cut a piece approx 1.5 inches square. I placed it over the bore of my...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Took my BP's to the range. Fired my flintlock harper's ferry and couldn't hit the target at 45 feet. I couldn't see dirt splash high or low, right or left. Then the Pennsylvania flintlock hit the target at 45 feet (40gr 2F, ,530 RB with .010 patch) 6 times with one cleaning patch in-between...

    Rifle sock or sleeve

I have a 1853 3-band enfield and a flintlock pennsylvania rifle. Does anyone have suggestions on sock or sleeve for each? I see Midway has a sleeve with fringes that's leather. Anything else? Just to go to range and back. Need something that can handle at the most 58 inches. Thanks.

    Travelers Swiss question

OK, here goes: Travellers sent 6 lbs of BP to me on Monday. FEDEX notified me it would be here in FL on thursday between 12 and 4. They were here Thursday at 1:15 but I wasn't. They left a note saying they would deliver on Friday. Today, they came at 2:45, I signed, I got my powder. Am I...

    Travelers Swiss question

I am getting 6 pounds ordered Sunday on Thursday. I got charged $70. Just remember that's not just the hazardous fee but also the shipping fee. Every time I ordered online I pay two fees: shipping and hazardous. You pay hazardous fees every time you order online. Even if you order at...

    Travelers Swiss question

Does anyone know about Travellers Antiques and Trading? They want a photo ID sent along with order in an email. I may be over-cautious but how do they protect my info. I know it is required in some places to keep track of who is buying BP. Just curious and a bit worrying. Thanks.

I have a chance to buy these.

There was no label on the Japanese. The Italian was labeled 1863 springfield but some on this forum said it wasn't and looked like a zouve? I don't know enough about either to figure it out. The Japanese has no twist evident in the bore (could have parallel groves??) while the italian has...

I have a chance to buy these.

The Italian made is being identified as a springfield with 1863 stamped on the lock. The Japanese has a band 1/2 between lock and end of barrel about 3.5 inches in width. I apologize if I got the pictures mixed up. I wasn't sure if the store would allow me to take pics. No label on the Japanese.

I have a chance to buy these.

Thanks again for all the input. I am going to pass on these. I got a great 1853 3 band enfield and a new pennsylvania flintlock. to cover the revolution and the civil war. I don't have enough info on the pictured guns to be confident about either one of them. Love this forum.

I have a chance to buy these.

I saw these two at a gun store. The made in Japan was 150 and the springfield 1863 was 450. He said he would deal. Been in the possession of a re-enactor. Any input on what the Japanese rifle is. (I could not get a bore scope in it but did see some fuzziness all the way down the bore with a...
