    One Muzzleloader enough?

Welcome and yes one muzzleloader is more than enough. You could actually purchase one and share it with friends and neighbors. You know, just take turns. Obviously kidding, the question is.. can you ever have too many?

    Light loads

Nice shooting! I shoot 25gr FFFg in my .36. it makes for cheap practice and deadly on squirrels and rabbits.

    What’s not to like?

I'm a flintlock guy these days. I really like early fowlers, fusils, trade guns and pre AWI rifles. Percussion rifles, SMRs, and most half stocks just don't get me near as excited as they did 30-40 years ago.

    Two Feathers knife

I recently purchased a knife from Two Feathers and thought I'd let you know how it went. The knife arrived in 3 days and was packed very securely. It's a beautiful knife and the leather sheath is a perfect fit. I left for deer camp 2 days after I received it and took it along. I used it to gut 3...

    Goex 2F question

FFg goex should work just fine in a .50 caplock. As usual you'll have to work up a load, but it'll do the job.

    Flintlock... hunting

My fusil and I have been out looking for a buck this morning. Nothing but wind and snow so far. I do hunt with non flintlock weapons, but it always feels like I'm cheating on the flinters. 😂

    50 vs 54 FlintLock Rifle

When I bought my first muzzleloader, several decades ago, I got a .45. It was used and cheap. My buddies dad had a .54. I asked him why he needed a .54 when my .45 seemed to work fine on our local whitetails. He would just say .54 is better for moose and still good for deer, he wanted to be...

    Shooting all by one’s lonesome

I shoot several times a week, always by myself and in the back yard. My goats all watch from the other side of the fence so at least I have an audience.

    TSS SHOT

I've never used it in a muzzleloader. I did try it in a modern shotshell. I had pellets wear through the wads so I went back to bismuth.

    Well I messed up today!

Keep practicing, eventually those groups will tighten up 😂. Seriously though that's pretty impressive, nice work!

    HOW RURAL IS RURAL?

We are fortunate enough to live on a dead end, dirt road. 33 miles to the grocery store and a gas station within 10. We have 45 acres of woods and meadows. Trout stream is 1/4 mile east and another 5 miles west. I can walk from one stream to the other without crossing any private land. Deer...

    New bag ready

    That's a great looking bag.

I’m getting to easy on these deer.

When I was younger I never let a deer walk if I had an unfilled tag. Now my choice between shoot or sit back and watch is determined more by my meat requirements, ambient temperature and my ambition.

Less than 100% pure lead for round balls and conicals ?

I have used range scrap lead for casting round ball with no problem. I did sort out and remove any cast bullets and only used the .22 rimfire bullets and jacketed stuff to try and eliminate as much "hard cast" as possible. My finished ingots tested out at 8.8bhn if I remember correctly. They...

    Smoothbores....

I have some spare boat anchors I'd be willing to swap one even up for a smoothbore. I'd hate to have someone use the wrong tool for the job and end up on the rocks. Safety first.

    brass furniture

I used to like shiny brass on plains rifles and iron mounted longrifles. Now I prefer brass longrifles and iron mounted plains rifles. :dunno:
