    WANTED TC Patriot loading stand

These things are very easy to make. You'll need about five bucks for lumber, some glue and a few drywall screws. Be careful how you make it and use it though. Patriots have a reputation for cracked stocks caused by using reloading stands.

Possibles Bag and Powder Horn Proper Carry Position?

Is there some practical reason that almost nobody seems to make bags out of deerskin? I know elephant hide is a bit pricey, but deerskin seems more or less affordable.

Possibles Bag and Powder Horn Proper Carry Position?

Mine has too many things to list... and I am considering making a new bag that has more room. I had once planned a bag for each gun... but I got too many guns to make that practical. Now I just swap things out depending upon the gun and the "mission".

    First time in years

From the title of the thread, I thought it might be about some fortunate individual who has a sex like mine (heavy sigh). Those were the days.... ;)

    Real or copy? Colt 1860

Once upon a time Colt conversion revolvers could be had pretty cheaply. Not so much anymore. I really gotta get a replacement cylinder for my Uberti version. Check the load and the powder scale three times before you start seating bullets.

    Real or copy? Colt 1860

This is what Colt's serial number lookup displayed regarding a gun similar to this one: Year of Manufacture 1862 Model 1860 ARMY (.44 CALIBER WITH NAVAL ENGAGEMENT SCENE ON CYLINDER) Now, it could still be a good fake. The thing that makes me suspicious (other than that I am suspicious...

    Goex Products

Good to hear! When down to my last couple pounds of Old Eynsford, I finally broke down and ordered ten pounds of 3f Swiss from Graf's. Looking forward to the day when I can order more Old Eynsford.

    Open carry flintlock

That little dude sitting on your shoulder whispering things to you is known as the "Good Idea Fairy". In the UK, he is known as "The Emperor Mong". In this case, when the police are smashing your face into the sidewalk, breaking your gun into a hundred pieces and stomping on your gonads, this...

    Powder Horn Question

Well, you can pay anywhere from ten bucks on up for a plain horn that is more or less functional. The last couple horns I bought I think I paid right around $20.00 or so. The one you have pictured has "character" I suppose, and if you want it as a decoration for your commercial hunting lodge...

    Hammer Won't Fall

Yup... and most of the advice was on the order of "send it back to T/C and they will fix it under warranty". We all know how that would end. Only wish I knew what the thingamajig that the screws held down is actually called. Also, discovered that T/C locks are often similar, but not...

    Hammer Won't Fall

Had a similar problem with a percussion Renegade. Found a couple of screws loose. Put some blue Lock-Tite on the threads and tightened them down. No further issues with the lock.

    Dropping lead into water

Are you using distilled water? Maybe you are getting mineral deposits from the water on the surface of the bullets.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Well, the cats Vir & Delenn were definitely the stars of this video. I should hire them out as "stunt cats". In any case, I did eventually get them far enough away from the target that their risk of injury was minimal. They've gotten so used to me shooting that they have no real fear of gun...

    Real Hawken or not?

During the time I worked in retail firearms, I rarely saw period pieces like this one appears to be. When I did, there was always something amiss with it... parts missing, screws buggered up, cracks/splits and LOTS of rust. Saw an original Brown Bess once that had the last foot or so of barrel...

    Lapping or smoothing

0000 steel wool with a patch, fitted jag and light oil. Then start shooting it and cleaning it properly afterward.

    Range Rod

Lots of 'em out there, but I bought an aluminum one by T/C from Amazon.

    Pawnshop Prize!!

I've thought about acquiring one of these from Uberti, but have so far resisted the urge. That does look like a nice revolver though. If you don't mind my asking... what didja hafta pay for the CVA version?
