    Range rod carrier

I dunno if this would be practical, but could a way be devised to have a ramrod in the thimbles that has a bore guide on it and maybe a knob on the end of it with a channel cut for the barrel? You could potentially have all the advantages of a range rod with the relative convenience of an...

    Flintlock GPR failure to fire.

The OP never said that he cleaned between shots... which is the only way I know of to get "wet nasty" black powder fowling into the breach where it might cause an ignition issue.

    What gun do you save?

... or you could tie him up and make him watch you load the gun and maybe test-fire it a couple times, just to make sure that it works, you understand, using a sealed milk carton filled with red food coloring, so that he can see what's going to happen to him. Sorry sometimes my masochistic side...

Is this an authentic 1860 Colt?

First red flag is the price. Beyond that it isn't worth looking into. If it seems too good to be true....

    What gun do you save?

No guns, box of gold and silver or other items of value. Maybe the cats. Guns can be replaced. Favorite gun? T/C Hawken .45 with a cracked stock and a ringed barrel. Not worth a whole lot, but my favorite. Maybe I would try to throw that out the window with the cats.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

T/C Hawken flintlock .50 caliber at a half-gallon milk carton 25 yards out. Patched .490 round ball atop 50 grains of 3f Old Eynsford black powder. Cold and windy day today. Thought I had missed initially, but when the smoke cleared the target was down.

    Yea or nay

I have learned painfully to avoid Spanish-made guns of any kind.

    Best value flintlock

I only own one; a T/C Renegade in .50 caliber. It has never given me any trouble, shoots well and I think it was a sad day when they were discontinued. I'll never forgive S&W for buying them.

    Got my lancaster flint today.

You won't warp the barrel, the wood will eventually conform to the barrel channel... though it can take some time. There are ways to bend wood involving heat and moisture, but in this case, I think it would cause you more trouble than it is worth. For the rest, TDM & Co. are giving you good...

A Man Has to Know His Limitations!

Well, you got the Yellowstone Caldera to worry about. When it goes, it will start with small quakes all over the region and then nuke the continent. We'll get clobbered even here in Wisconsin. Yeah, I'm kind of a disasterphile.

    For you rock bangers....

Well, he could have done that, but I always used a match. I think the OP was referring to the flintlock... which is sort of a "rock banger". Then again, in these days of deviants.... ;)

    For you rock bangers....

I could make one phone call and buy it in a couple days. Tempting. Not going to do it though. I've seen wooded land at that price... also I might need a new to me Nissan XTera, a barrel rebore and a road trip vacation. Would also be afraid to take something so valuable to the woods!😉

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

@Gordoncourtney Malicious misinformer troll?! Me? How so? Red flag? Like a real visible red flag, or a feeling you got? On somebody's radar? Why? Kinda confusing message, at least confusing to me. Did a search on the title of the poem and it came up as Kipling's. Didn't follow up and...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

In the aftermath of last week's blizzard, we finally got plowed out, so I decided to kill a gallon milk jug. Have been playing with the 3f Swiss powder I recently received... so far I like it. Seems a bit cleaner than what I am used to and of course, much more reliable than Pyrodex or Triple...

Yes, definitely Kipling's work. Published 1917.

777 in the Pocket Navy .36

Yes, I have encountered this as well on occasion. I have a capper that will not work with #11 caps.

Um... cool is a relative term I guess. This is what I got today: Yes, the snowflakes really are that big.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

We're having one of our late season "blizzards" today and it's actually closer to a real blizzard than I like to see. Snowing heavily and the forecast says it won't quit until tomorrow. I'd guess we have six or eight inches of heavy snow on the ground now, so I was surprised to see a FedEx...

Any Interest in PETERSOLI double barrel

Perhaps so. but the original asking price was $1400.00. If I could get one new for a hundred dollars or even five hundred dollars I would probably go for the new gun with a warranty. I normally buy used when I can, but in the case of a double with all the possible issues, I'd rather have the...
