    DGW shipping

I understand delays when leaving shipping. I did contact DGW through their 'contact' connection on their web site asking for an update on my order from Dec 1. And today I get an email with item listing and note saying it has left shipping today. Oh well....squeaky wheel get the grease, I guess.

    DGW shipping

I ordered wads and patches and a pedersoli kit on December 1. Still in shipping. Can they be that busy or are they short staffed? I just sent them a 'what's going on' note. I ordered display stands from Midway and got them in a week. I guess it's not a fair comparison. I wonder about Old...

When will I be strong enough to push RB down a Plains .54 single shot pistol?

Just went to range today with my two pistols. The .54 pistol: I got 520 RB with .018 patch down the barrel with just the starter and ramrod and me. GREAT!!! The 50 pistol: I got a .440 RB with the same .018 patch down the same way. GREAT!!!! It felt WONDERFUL. Hit the target at 21 feet so...

Shipping ml handgun in US Mail?

Do a search on "mailing BP revolvers" and you'll see thread I started with lots of info back in March. I am on my phone that I don't know how to do a link. 😭

Wife says I have a problem

Took "our" BP revolvers and single shots to range. The range officer calls us "the black powder couple". Then asked if we had a BP rifle. My wife of 44 years said " not yet". I'll keep her.

When will I be strong enough to push RB down a Plains .54 single shot pistol?

Here's an update on all I have: (pistols) .50 - (Hawkins) .490RB, wonder lube patch .015 - too tight .54 - (lyman great plains).530 RB, wonder lube patch .018 - too tight if I use a .490 RB and a .015 lube patch on the .54 it seems to work without banging. But is it too loose? As long as I...

When will I be strong enough to push RB down a Plains .54 single shot pistol?

I had to use a ball starter with hammer, then used a hammer with the provided ramrod. I am having problems trying to believe that our forefathers had to use a hammer to load while the British were approaching. Am I missing some old way of doing things. I am using a .530 RB and .10 lubed wad on...

    Non-Availability of Imports From Italy

If people bought firearms from Italy, wouldn't they have paid for their orders? Just like buying from bass pro shop on line. Bass is going to get money before they ship. Just an opinion.

hawkins .50 cal single shot fires on 3rd try

Latest update: changed nipple with slixshot uberti 12-28 thread cap and ball using a remington 11 cap. It fired the first time. I used CCI 11(second time), CCI magna 11(third time), and 1075(third time). As I look at the pix, it looks like hammer is on the nipple just a bit more on the front...

hawkins .50 cal single shot fires on 3rd try

I have a hawkins .50 single shot. I have placed a #11 cap (CCI and rem) and it took 3 hammer hits to fire the cap. I think the hammer needs to move farther back before releasing but why does the cap fire on the 3rd try? Could it be that the hammer does not have enough force and the first 2...

    Non-Availability of Imports From Italy

Italy manufacturing is doing what US manufacturing is doing. They are using the majority of their resources making valves, pistons, rods, hoses for ventilators and other equipment for Italian hospitals. They probably have one person doing revolver building and have at least 8 month backlog. I...

    Hello from Georgia!

Welcome. Is any of those places near Blue Ridge? Visited 4 weeks ago and entered a huge Ace hardware store that had a gun department. I bought a pocket, snub-nose, and 1st dragon at very good prices. All 3 were new. They had more revolvers but those 3 were all my wife let me buy. Can't wait...

Percussion cap misfires on new revolvers

I just opened a new tin of CCI 10s and 11s from the packages they came in. I am getting some Remington, magnum, and rws caps in a day. Let you know how it goes. I'll tighten the nipples too.

Percussion cap misfires on new revolvers

I took the .31 caliber pocket (pietta) and tried #10 and #11 caps (CCI). Nothing but dented caps. Then I followed LYMAN54 advice and loosened caps 1/2 turn. All caps fired correctly. Yippie. Now are there longer nipples that I can get rather than keeping these loose? Are the Slix shot (hot...

Percussion cap misfires on new revolvers

These caps, both 10 and 11, didn't fire. Not even one tiny spark. I should have taken off the caps and tried to get them to spark but I didn't think of it. Would different nipples affect the hammer or the distance from nipple to powder? Thanks.

    le mat wads

I call it a wad. It was a 'clump' of hemp type stuff he put in back and front of the shot. I would think you need something so the small buckshot wouldn't fall out.
