I always prefer a strapped shoulder bag no matter how I hunt.

opinions of best twist rate for 45

Not only the twist rate is involved for PRB, remember you need the grooves in the .010 - .016 area. I like a 1:56 for PRB & .010 - .012 groove depth. I seldom shoot one past 75 yards hunting.

Main Charge Powder in the Frizzen Pan

I push a pipe cleaner into my vent hole then load my charge. Stops Swiss 3F from easing out into my pan.

Strange Day for Me in the Woods.

Well when you sit & watch those Tick Toter you learn things you wouldn't if you shot everytime one came in range. I have sat many a day just watching them in the past 20 years, i have killed a couple of train car loads of them past 62 years i have hunted them.

    Just about fed up…

? if you drop a powder load down bore & hand slap powder over under nipple. Pull nipple & look to see if you actually have powder there. I knew a man whom was at the rifle range one day. He was have bad time with his ignition. Turns out the was a cleaning patch down in the BP area causing the...

    My First Black Powder Firearm!

It's more along the Navy .36 model, having a brass frame don't shoot heavier or hot loads from it. 15-20 gr of 3F is plenty to enjoy it.

    Just about fed up…

This rifle does have a hooked breech correct ? Pop the wedge out & stick the end in a bucket of warm soapy water. Less the nipple, & start cleaning the bore as the soapy water draws in & out it will clean the bore & breech. Dry it squirt brake cleaner or electric contact spray to drive any water...

Well as far as i am concerned that's what the Pope& all of the Bishops need! You may get angry & mad but i don't think the newer member knows how it offends some members here if you have to blow your nose !

Am I the only one who doesn’t really care for carving on a rifle stock?

Do i like carving & inlaying, yes to look at. I have a distaste for a patchbox of any kind. I don't want any of those on my rifle. I can enjoy admiring them on another persons rifle,Fowler,Trade Gun. I don't even like a cheek rest. I have 2 rifles with those patchboxes & both are factory. The...

    Schutzen 3F thoughts

I used up the last of my old Goex 2004. Bought Schuetzen 3F & have went through 1.5 lbs since last year. It's the dirtiest & caking powder i have ever shot out of my ML's. It doesn't compare with the Swiss i have. If it's all you can find or get then you have to live with it. I won't buy anymore...
