    Muzzleloading Myths

Cartridge guns use different steel than muzzleloaders. Also the breeches are reinforced and they use slower burning powders.

    Muzzleloading Myths

What you said was that it seems to be a myth. It is far from a myth. I believe we've all read hunting stories about hunters inadvertently plugging their barrels with snow or mud with catastrophic results. You are right, it is not a given that it happens 100% of the time but when it does happen...

    Muzzleloading Myths

You only need to see a short started barrel blow up once to make you a believer. I've seen barrels bulged and I've seen barrels blow up. To say it doesn't happen is wrong and irresponsible. If you did it with no Ill effects.... Lucky you!

Good time to join the NMLRA!

No organization is perfect. Most local clubs operate with just a few of the members doing all the work. It's the same with the national organizations. The NMLRA does what it can to support muzzloading. The reason the organization reached out to the inline people was an effort to increase the...

    The Future of Traditional Muzzleloaders?

Over the years I've mentored a lot of shooters. I did a promotional video for the NMLRA with the help of Jim Scoutten's Shooting USA show. I performed a number of difficult shots for Shooting USA's Impossible Shots program. For years I only shot flintlock rifles. For years, I attended black...

    The Future of Traditional Muzzleloaders?

I think it's dying a slow death. Traditional muzzleloading has become.very expensive for the entry level person who. wants to do traditional stuff. Custom rifles.run 2 to 10k. Custom powder horn 250 bag 250. Then talk about clothes mocs,, tent etc, etc, etc. Hard for young people to get into it.

    How much is too much.

If one can't carry a 10 pound rifle in the woods, he probably is not in good enough shape to be in the woods. IMHO. No offense intended to anyone.

    How much is too much.

It depends on the barrel weight and profile. It's a personal preference.

    Vent liner

The only reason not to do it is if you remove to many threads on the liner. That would make it unsafe.
