New bench & vise; need ideas for small bench and good vise

For me, the ideal small bench top measures two by five feet. Made to my preferred height, I can stand at the center and easily reach anything without bending over except the farthest corners, which require only a slight lean, saving your back. A conventional wood working vise mounted to the...

    Barrel twist for deer hunting

I can do rigorous thought experiments that will slam my mind shut, making me reject any other options. (I think it so, therefore it IS.) However, I respect hard physical world expiramental evidence to pure imaginings. Until I see ultra high-speed photography of a ball skipping across rifling in...

Lock speed kibler SMR vs Woodsrunner

Some shooters are more highly evolved than the rest of. They by eye and ear alone calculate lock speed down to the nearest tenth of a millisecond and can afterward authoritatively anounce which lock is faster. I'm envious.

    Barrel twist for deer hunting

Are we to infer from this Sam and Jake didn't make serious killing guns? Exactly how do you know balls skip over 1:48 rifling with heavy charges. Please cite a primary source.

    Barrel twist for deer hunting

Yes, avoid the 48-inch twist. Everyone knows you can't shoot accurately with a T/C Haken rifled 48. Those who claim they can are just BSing. Besides Sam and Jake rifled all their Hawkins 1:48, but they didn't know what they were doing. Just ask those who know what a real round ball twist should be.

    Home-brew Permalyn

Walnut oil is another drying oil. Things I've finished with it have aged to a very mellow antique look. I think I'll try it on my next rifle. Bees wax paste -- wax and turpentine -- also ages to a mellow look. The wax polymerizes changing its molecular structure, becoming a hard water resistant...

Opinions Requested on Next Kibler SMR Caliber

As for me, I like different kinds of wood more than different calibers. I have three Kibler SMRs stocked in pear, ash and oak. I think they are 45, 36 and 40. I put them back in their boxes, waiting time to assemble them, so I'm not sure about the calibers. In practical terms, to keep things...

WANTED .54 cal investarms/ cabelas / Lyman stainless sporter

I have an engraved one I'm planning to sell. The barrel measures exactly 31/32nds, (measured with an accurate caliper) a 32nd bigger than 15/16ths and one smaller than one-inch. 15/16tns is 30/32nds for those who have trouble with fractions.

    ALR forum now sexy

I am now getting the Indonesian site at both ALR dot com and dot org. I emptied the cash and ran my cleanup apps and changed nothing. I've got ALR on speed dial sort of thing and it automatically pops up the dot org address. I haven't searched for anything remotely related to Indonesian things...

    ALR forum now sexy

Just tried going to the ALR forum. Looks like it's been hacked. It now is a site with a hot babe in a corner of the page, in some language I don't recognize. Will try to run a bit of it through a translation site. I bet it's not about muzzleloading.

    Kibler kits lead time?

Be dang careful about phoning Kibler. I called three times to ask about the kind of kit I wanted and each time they sold me a kit I didn't need.

Penny For Your Thoughts? Pawn Shop Find.

I've seen that rifle before, at least one very much like it. I scout online photos looking for butt stock carving designs I like; minimalist things that would be correct on my woods runner. I'm pretty sure I've seen that design somewhere, but didn't download a photo because that design doesn't...
