Current quality of the Italian makers

When Doug decided to quit, he closed the doors, sold off the equipment and all the parts. I ended up with a few unfinished cylinders and a bunch of grips for future projects. IMHO, they tried to do too much in house. At the end, they were doing all the finish work and even making their own...

Current quality of the Italian makers

I've bought 13 new production Italian replicas since COVID. No sign of any QC issues in any of them. In fact, the most recent ones are the nicest. Including these two I bought late last year.

Current quality of the Italian makers

USFA didn't "go under". The president and CEO Doug Donnelly just decided to quit. In hindsight, the guns were too good and too expensive for the market to bear. Too much, "I'd rather have a Colt" from people who could never accept that USFA was making a better Colt than Colt ever did. They were...

    Different Ubertis?

There is no difference. The myth comes from the fact that Mike Harvey of Cimarron worked with Uberti to improve their product in the early `80's. They paid an extra $30 per gun for extra attention. Eventually those improvements made it into all of Uberti's guns. Today and for at least the last...

    Taylor Uberti better than Uberti?

Four out of five raises an eyebrow for me. Also wondering what those defects were. I have 37 Uberti's and have only ever had to return one, which was a Cimarron. No importer is taking the time to inspect guns coming from Italy.

    Another Uberti or Pietta thread

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Both have drastically improved their products over the last 10-15yrs. Uberti's tend to have short arbors and Pietta's tend to have more offensive stuff stamped on their guns. One might be have a better representation of a certain model than the other...

Increased Prices of Replica Percussion Revolvers

I guess whining about prices is always in style. I think it's borderline stupid in this context. I bought two really nice Colt replicas a few months ago in the $300 range. Meanwhile, the jon boat I was looking at 2yrs ago for $700 is now $2000! Paying $300 for a Uberti, which is a lot nicer gun...

Increased Prices of Replica Percussion Revolvers

Yeah well the NFA is about a lot more than just machineguns. Every other part of it is outdated. Some of it quite detrimental in general. There's only 2 "mass shootings" a day according to those who use, abuse and manipulate statistics for political gain.

REMINGTON NEW ARMY BARREL REPLACEMENT QUESTION.

A Uberti or Pietta barrel might fit and then it might not or require so much gunsmith work that the cost would FAR exceed the gun's value. You can use a chunk of wood to turn the frame off the barrel with a steel gun but I would not try that with a brass one. I'd strongly suggest buying a new...

    Antiquing percussion revolvers

Is there documentation that the original guns were rust blued and not charcoal blued?

    Antiquing percussion revolvers

They also lived with no air conditioning. They lived and worked outdoors, in all manner of hostile conditions and spent many a night without a roof over their heads. All the caps and powders they used were corrosive. Most handgun wear does not come from when it's in your hands. It comes from...

    Antiquing percussion revolvers

If you want them to look like they did when they were first issued, you need to first send your Uberti or Pietta to Turnbull for a full refinish. Because that finish on your replica ain't authentic. Further, how long do you think those guns looked like that? A week? A month? Those pitted old...

I'll look at some of mine. I have some from the early 2000's and several newer versions.

    Colt 1860 Army reproduction??

Far as I know, Uberti's frames are forged. I also seem to recall they were unfinished parts but far from raw forgings. Also not sure what "Imperato's Uberti factory" means. The Uberti family has always operated the Uberti factory, even now under Beretta ownership. I also don't agree with the...

    Taylor Uberti better than Uberti?

Point being that resellers can't do anything about issues after the sale. That's on the manufacturer or importer. So the fact that EMF honors warranty claims but Midway won't doesn't really mean anything.

    Taylor Uberti better than Uberti?

EMF, Cimarron, Dixie Gun Works, Stoeger and Taylor's are importers. Midway is just a reseller.

Uberti vs Pietta, Not the same old, same old.....This could be news.

I don't know where. These two were procured in the last couple months and are among the nicest Uberti's I own.
