    wouldn't ignite

Could you have pushed your Rig grease into the patent breech when trying to clean it back out before loading after storage? Perhaps you applied a bit more than usual and then running a tight fitting patch/jag down the bore resulted in some of it clogging the opening of the flame channel at the...

    Hopkins and Allen Heritage

Mine is a .45 Heritage model. It has a pretty bad crack in the wrist. It also has a ton of barrel movement, I suspect that the hole the pin goes through on the breech end of the barrel is extremely wallowed out. I'd confirm that is the case if I could get the tapered pin out. No amount of...

    wouldn't ignite

A little more info would help in determining exactly what fouled your powder, but I agree it sounds like your rust preventative got into the flame channel. What is your cleaning procedure and what do you use for a rust preventative? What do you use as a patch lube?

    Hopkins and Allen Heritage

I have an H&A .45 underhammer, but have not shot it yet due to several issues with it. With that being said, I read up on them quite a bit when I first got it. I have it in my notes that they are almost a .440 caliber rather than a .45, and that it's best to start with a .433 RB and a thinner...

    non traditional sights

I have FO sights on my rifle for low light hunting and eyes that aren't getting any better as I age. I would warn that FO sights do not glow real well if there is a roof over head from the firing position. I have a ghost ring rear sight in the factory location that has two green FO dots on each...

    Pre-Lubing patches with mink oil

I try to always lube patches a few days before I'm going to use them but have had several occasions where I made some up for hunting season and then they sat for 2-4 months before I went to the range and actually used them. (keep your comments about my hunting success to yourself! 😀) I've not...

Procedure to Properly Move a TC Seneca Rear Sight?

My TC Renegade front sight drifts out to the right. So holding it as if you're going to shoot it, drive it out to the right. There is a saying, "knock it RIGHT out, unless you want it LEFT in". Be aware that putting in a new dovetail sight generally requires a bit of filing. Always file on the...

    FOR SALE Hacked or scam?

There is another forum I go on that has a huge classified section. To fight scammers they require a minimum of 20 posts and two weeks time since registering before you can even access and view the classifieds section. It's similar to having to be a contributing member here before you can...

    Witnessed Unsafe Behaviors

I do the same at the range I go to. They consider a muzzleloader to only be empty when the charge has been fired from the bore. It is normal for them to give one minute's notice to a ceasefire. Plenty of time even if I've just dumped powder in, but one time they did so right after I'd dumped...

    Noob issues

Your cleaning method is missing pulling water through the flame channel. A brass brush isn't going to seal and push/pull water through it. A jag and cleaning patch will clean it out better. Just stick the breech end in a bucket of water with a couple drops of dish soap. I prefer hot water...

    Just an intro...

Welcome from Idaho. I have a .54 Renegade as well, it is a fine shooter for me.

    Crockett hammer sucks caps

What caps are you using? Are they mag caps by chance? I have experienced this using mag caps in my Renegade. About 90% of #11 CCI mag caps get stuck in the cup and I can't get them out without using my nipple pick. If I use standard #11 CCI caps it is rare for them to get stuck, they either...

I believe the TC Seneca takes a 12-28 nipple thread.

Fouling and accuracy in .45 Kentucky

That's an awfully thin patch. I bet that goes down a clean bore mighty easy? It may not even be filling the grooves completely. You have a RB .005" under bore diameter and a .007" patch to take up the rest of the room, which includes needing to compress into the grooves tightly enough to...

Fouling and accuracy in .45 Kentucky

A .070" patch? Prelubed patches are notorious for giving fliers, as they can sit on the shelf for quite a while and the lube starts to break down the patch fibers. My .54 TC Renegade is very similar in wanting to be swabbed. I can get two shots before my POA takes off to the left for whatever...

Fouling and accuracy in .45 Kentucky

I'm with the others. Having the point of impact (POI) jump that high after fouling the bore really doesn't necessarily mean you have a bad bore problem. I'd be more inclined to question the fit of your patch and ball. What do recovered patches look like?

    .025 pillow ticking?

All you're possibly hurting is your palm when you smack the short starter! Ha ha. Best of luck in ordering some that ends up being the same thickness, that'd make me a bit nervous. But I happen to have a JoAnnes within 15 minutes of me, I know some are more lucky and live a bit further from...

Ignition problems with a T.C. Renegade

My .54 Renegade fires just fine with a Treso nipple and regular CCI #11 caps. I think a pipe cleaner and scrubbing out the flame channel is a good suggestion, perhaps build up has occurred over time. I've always cleaned mine with the bucket of water method, the pushing/pulling of water...

Where to set the sights ?

When I was young I shot by holding "right on", that is putting the top of the front sight over my intended target. The concept of a six oclock hold didn't enter my mind at such a young age. Thousands of rounds were shot this way in my youth. This is very thoroughly embedded into my brain to...

    Washing Pillow Ticking Before Use

It will feel very stiff and won't absorb lube well at all until the sizing starch is washed out of it. The last pillow ticking I bought I had to wash in hot twice before it all came out. Don't skip using a delicates bag or putting into a nylon or something, or else it'll unravel something fierce.
