    My 1803 Harpers Ferry

Thanks for the picture. That is one rifle with a huge amount of military history. From the 1st US Rifle Regiment, to the War of 1812, to the disbanding of that Regiment into the 3rd US Infantry, to its use by 3rd US Infantry escorting the first caravan down the Santa Fe Trail and return, to the...

who all uses peeps on their percussion guns.

Years ago I bought one of those Cabelas Hawken rifle kits. Put it together and installed a Lyman globe front sight, and a TC rear adjustable peep sight. Holy moly that rifle shoots tight groups at 100 yards from the bench or cross sticks. It makes for fun shooting mounted blue rock at 100 yards...

FOR SALE Lyman Trade Rifle stock with custom 50 cal. barrel

For sale is a Lyman Trade Rifle with a custom 50 cal. barrel. I was told that the barrel was a Green River Rifle Works barrel, but I have no markings to that effect. It is a slow twist rifling with 8 grooves. I have never shot the rifle. It has been a safe queen. Asking $350.00 plus shipping and...

    Zouave loads?

Within the last 5 years I bought another Antonio Zoli 1863 Remington replica to shoot. I did find a big difference in shooting a tighter group at 50 yards with the RCBS .576 Minnie over the Lyman .575 Minnie. The .576 slightly engages the rifling at the muzzle, something I wanted to try, and in...

Are we doing a disservice to new flint shooters?

I have read many years back an article on frontier colonial firearms, where only the skilled marksmen were allowed to venture very far into the forest. Least they gave the natives the impression of how poorly many folks shot flintlock rifles/muskets. If you want flintlock participation, set more...

Are we doing a disservice to new flint shooters?

Some folks just cant hold over very well. It is just their nature. Anxiety control is not the same for everyone, just as not everyone can be taught the same method. Science of Human Nature at work.
