    WITHDRAWN T/C Hawken

The rifling looks normal to me. You can see it at the muzzle of the gun. I think the picture is of reflections. I got no idea for the RR. If I was not out of state on a 4 month trip I would buy the gun.

TC barrel windage out by 20 MOA

If I were going to try to "straighten" a muzzle loader barrel I would rig it so I could apply incremental pressure and with a dial indicator to tell me when I passed the elastic limit and got to the permanent set range. And...I probably would not try to "straighten" a barrel that shot well...

Would you put money into it or leave it alone?

It is a nice looking rifle and I would pour money into it like it was water until I decided it is properly "fixed up".

    Hawken accuracy problem

Unless you just have to use patched round balls for the hunt try some bullets. If you want to prove that the gun and you can shoot try some sabots for a quick session and when you see the 1 hole group then go back to the round ball and find the problem. My guess is it fits too loose and the...

    epoxy for sight mount??

I purchased a used .45 caliber Hawken barrel. The sight mounting screws were stripped. I tried to re drill and tap the blind holes to #8-40. I got one hole tapped correctly with about 3 or 4 threads deep and fuzzed the other one up completely. I want o mount a red dot sight for load...

    What blows me away...

"The longer I study history the more convinced I am that man has always been of about the same relative intelligence through all of recorded history." Right now every time I turn on the TV or look at the internet I think that mankind has dumbed down a bit lately.

WANTED Wanted...Lace on pad to fit TC Hawken

The heavy bullets I am shooting now hurt me. I would like a lace on pad with some style to go over a TC Hawken butt plate or that would fit the gun with the brass butt plate removed. Let me know what you can do and the cost. Thanks for consideration.

    50 caliber Thompson

I sure like it. I have one too. I walked into a gun shop and just bought it on a whim because it was so beautiful and in such nice condition. And that whim has lead to a couple more barrels and another stock. Maybe because the first one is too pretty and minty to haul to the range often.

Seeking Advice: Stick with Current Rifle or Opt for a Replacement?

If you like the gun by all means keep the gun. Put the ramrod under the barrel where it belongs and leave it there. It is for decoration. Buy a steel cleaning rod and the attachment to put the bullet pusher and a cleaning jag on the rod and use it for loading and cleaning the gun. I refer to...

    Hawken sight screw thread..

Thank you for your prompt reply. Not sure what I am going to do next but I have the information I need. Will grind a tap flat and try to clean up what is there first. The holes are shallow. Ugly spot on the barrel. Fall back is to just solder it back down.

    Hawken sight screw thread..

What size and thread are the sight screws in the barrel for a TC Hawken? I have a .45 cal kit barrel I purchased used and the sight was soldered on. I have taken it off and wish to try to chase the threads a little. Any tips for how to remove the solder from the screw holes? And what size...

    Rifle Questions

If you can use a rifle I think you should buy it. Not a lot of risk there. Any thing well fitted with a good maple stock is worth more than that. Look at Jim Chambers website and try to match style and/ore details to see if it might be from his parts. I think most guns built from Chambers...

    Foot Pounds

muzzle velocity times projectile weight = recoil. I spent a dozen shots sighting my .50 caliber in with 90 grains and 450 grain projectiles. I have it perfect. But...no desire to shoot that load again to re-check it. Took almost 2 weeks for the bruise to clear. Next time I will put a small...

    TC Penn. Hunter percussion

No experience with that model. But...I sure do not see a reason not to go ahead and buy it if its barrel length and twist fit your needs or wants.
