Anyone recognize this trademark on this vintage chisel ? Also, a Swan chisel, with an acrylic handle ??

I'm pretty sure that I have one with that same stamp. I'll try to remember to look the next time I'm in the shop to see if there's anything else stamped on it.

    Ideas for Appalachian barn gun

For what it's worth, the .50 southern classic barrel is pretty light and I'd think that the chestnut stock is probably a good bit less dense/heavy than the average maple stock as well, so what I envision is a nice, light rifle that I could throw a sling on and still hunt all day with without...

    Ideas for Appalachian barn gun

Kind of a long story, but I've been working on a number of gun projects in my shop over the last 4 or 5 years and have really lost motivation (plus gotten involved in a lot of other projects) and found myself unable to finish those projects. I have a friend who builds part-time, commercially...

Free flint knap-in in Logan Ohio Oct. 12th and 13th

Interesting. I picked up a lot of flint in Ohio a few years back, heat treated it myself but realized that I don't have a clue how to knap it into rifle flints. I sent a good bit of it to a guy in Alaska I think and he was going to knap them for me, but he's kind of disappeared, along with my...

    First muzzleloading elk hunt...

I've always said that IF I ever hunted elk or moose, that it would be with a flintlock rifle (likely one that I built). I no longer have any real desire to big game hunt (at least nowhere near the desire that I used to have when I was younger), but I still think this would be fun. As others...

UPS has outdone itself. I'm actually impressed by how massive of a failure this is, even Kiblers famous crates are no match! INSURE YOUR STUFF FOLKS!

I'm also a retired game warden, but I always hand delivered any rifle/shotgun that needed to go to the lab because I've never trusted USPS or UPS. *******s......

    SC deer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Nice. I live seasonally in upstate SC (snowbird from Pennsylvania), but have yet to hunt deer there. I also have 100+ acres here at home in PA, so I take at least one deer per year here and haven't yet felt the need to hunt them in SC, not to mention that I don't have private property to hunt...

    Hawken Worth

Absolutely, a well-built muzzleloader should be worth more than the cost of the parts even if the builder isn't known. And I'm not suggesting that this gun wouldn't be worth $1200 (I barely looked at the photos and there are only 2 of them), but I just added up the cost of the parts listed and...

    Venmo Scams

I tend to do what the seller wants if it's reasonable and not an obvious scam. If it looks weird or too good to be true, I do my due diligence and often or usually back out of the transaction. I have a brother who's an antique collector, buyer and seller who also happens to like black powder...

    2024 Turkey Hunting

I only hunt turkeys with a flintlock. My state (PA) has always allowed flintlock rifles in the fall, but only fowler/shotgun in the spring. Assuming I go (I've killed a pile of them and don't hunt spring birds much anymore), I'll be using a 20 gauge flintlock fowler that I built.

    Questions on Kibler Rifles

I live seasonally in Seneca, SC. I have a Kibler SMR, but I don't have it down here, it's at my northern place. Happy to discuss with you at some point, but I can't show you mine. The only question becomes whether you really like the Colonial or the Woodsrunner and whether you see them as...

    What wood is this?

Beech maybe? Birch? Some type of hardwood that will be fine for it's purpose, but not particularly interesting or attractive to me (though this one does show more grain than many of them did).

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

I live in northcentral Pennsylvania and the squirrel population seemed to be up this year from previous years. Oddly, lots of black squirrels as well. I used to see maybe 1 black squirrel in ten on my property and I think this year it was probably 1 out of 3 were black. Not sure why. Good...

I'm pretty sure that he suggested as much in one of his videos.

    Shipping gunstock blanks....

Sign of the times and the absolute stupidity of some people I guess. Thankfully, where I live carrying around a stock blank in public still doesn't raise an eyebrow. I dearly hope that it stays that way. That said, my wife and I recently purchased a seasonal retirement home in lake country...

    Shipping gunstock blanks....

I just shipped it at the local post office and they didn't say boo about it. It was $31 and change priority mail from northern PA to southern OH. Too much for sure, but not really any more than I expected at this point in time.

    Shipping gunstock blanks....

To be honest, halfway is probably 3 hours for me and I can't imagine that Jim Kibler has the time or any desire to be driving to pick up this gun blank. You're right, if it was just a private sale to someone or a transfer to a buddy, even with gas prices through the roof it might be worth...

    Shipping gunstock blanks....

I don't have a UPS depot very nearby and don't really feel like going out of my way if it's only going to be $5 difference. Any idea what I can expect to pay to Ohio from northern PA via USPS or UPS? Standard SMR blank, so probably 5 pounds or more in its raw state.

    Shipping gunstock blanks....

Thanks. I don't have a shipping label, can I just take it to the post office and have them create one with the addresses that I give them? Of course I can just as easily write the address on a piece of white paper and cover it with packing tape. Thoughts?

    Shipping gunstock blanks....

I've seen this question asked before, but I want to be sure before I do anything and risk the ire of the USPS or risk damage/theft. A friend wanted to build a Kibler SMR and he chose to provide his own wood (which I'm giving him). He's already ordered the rifle and I need to get the curly...
