    This is pretty scary!

I have a buddy who's into fly fishing and he's constantly purchasing titles that he later finds he already had. He ships them to me and I get free books all the time. Truth is that it's happened so frequently that I actually feel guilty about it.

    Hello from Pennsylvania

Welcome from northern PA. I lived in Nottingham for a short time (3 years) and my wife attended Oxford High School.

    PA fall turkey

The digest and the website clearly state that muzzleloading rifles, shotguns and handguns are amongst the lawful arms and ammunition for fall turkey. It specifically prohibits centerfire rifles, but not muzzleloaders.

I'm glad to hear that Dale. I hope you also find time to shoot it some, but it's nice that you enjoy it daily.

FOR SALE Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle, .50 percussion, Trade accepted/Sold

Thanks Notchy Bob. I think so too. I've always tried to be fair with my initial pricing on items that I've sold because I don't want to be embarrassed, nor do I want to force potential buyers to make lots of lowball offers. I've seen what they've been bringing, I know what condition this one...

Just inked a trade offer/deal Dale, so you're safe. ;) This item is sold.

FOR SALE Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle, .50 percussion, Trade accepted/Sold

I have interest from 3 different posters and I'll consider the offers that they make, but as of this time, I still haven't accepted an offer and I'll listen if anyone wants to make an offer. I'm pretty open-minded about trades, but obviously want it to be something of equal quality/value (or...

FOR SALE Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle, .50 percussion, Trade accepted/Sold

I don't have a lot of experience with them, but the single set trigger is VERY nice.

FOR SALE Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle, .50 percussion, Trade accepted/Sold

Rifle is in excellent condition. There are some very minor handling marks on the barrel (basically just browning slightly rubbed in a couple of tiny spots) and some slight discoloration of the browning toward the muzzle on the left side and on the underrib where the thimbles were soldered on...

    Moving On

Not anything that I'd be interested in, but I think it's really cool.

    It's not a group...it's so bad it's not even a shotgun pattern....I need help.

I always wonder what the context of these "my gun shoots horrible" threads is. Before knowing how horrible the group is, one would have to know what the poster/shooter is typically capable of. I admit that over the years, at times I've shot terrible groups with this rifle or that and presumed...

    DUDE, SMOKED HIM!!!???

I made it pretty clear that I find the over the top celebrations in many of today's hunting shows to be buffoonery. I also said that on the instance that I behaved that way myself when I was a very young teen, that I was embarrassed for my behavior and didn't think it reflected the nature of the...

    Little more progress today....

Holy crap. Guys like you sicken me. I'm joking of course, it's quite beautiful.

    DUDE, SMOKED HIM!!!???

As Britsmoothy so eloquently mentioned, it's utter nonsense and it's embarrassing. I remember getting pretty wound up and shouting when I was 15 years old and killed my first buck because I thought I was supposed to. Afterwards I was kind of embarrassed of myself. (I actually don't recall and...

    L&R Locks

I think a lot of the more serious builders that know what a tuned lock should look and act like will tell you to avoid them and that the Chambers locks (among others) are a better deal for only a few bucks more. That said, I've had several L&R locks and they've been fine. Full disclosure, I...

    No more GOEX or OE

I'm fortunate that I bought a case with some buddies this spring and have 5 pounds of OE and a pound of Goex to add to whatever I had on hand (probably 3 or 4 pounds of assorted Goex). That will last me for at least a few years, but this is sad news.

    Hatfield .50cal

I was wondering the same thing. I don't want/need the gun, but if the shop has a $300 price tag on it or something, it would be a bargain even if a few things needed attention. If the price tag is $500 or more it's not as attractive, but it's still likely equal or preferable to many/most...

CLOSED Under-rib for Jonathan Browning mountain rifle

OK, by way of an update, Deer Creek did have the rib. It took me several days to get through to them or to get a response, but I now have the rib, the screws and the thimbles (I'll have to solder them on) on the way and I'm thrilled by that.
