I've had good luck running both ffff and fff in my priming flask. I've never tried ff but I imagine it wouldn't be great.

I use fff of REAL black powder in the barrel and in the pan when shooting and hunting.(Just makes it easier not having to deal with multiple cans) I will say I'm thankful to live in Pa where many small town gun shops have real black powder. ( 3 shops within 25 minutes driving)

I didn't realize it until now but Jim's shop is just under a hour away from me!!! Maybe I'll make the trip to the tavern this summer. And hopefully some day, the trip to pick up one of Jim's guns.

I've never killed a bear ( no bears in my corner of far west Pa) but there are 125+ black bears that would say Davey Crockett's 40 cal prb did the trick. I'm sure whatever you have, assuming you put it just behind the shoulder, will do just fine.
