    Pietta 1858 Review

I used my digital calipers, don't have anything else to measure them with. Wish I had some plug gauges to get a more precise measurement.

    Pietta 1858 Review

Yes .446 This is the norm for Pietta. I was going to open up the chambers to .450 but it shoots to good to mess with

    Pietta 1858 Review

This is my new unfired Pietta 1858 in .44 made in 2011, originally sold by Cabelas. I purchased it new/unfired a couple of weeks ago. Well it was new/unfired  Bluing is very nice, I would say not as nice as most Uberti's but close. Metal fit and finish is great, the brass to steel fit is...

    Opening the Cylinders ?

In the real world that would be the norm. But for some reason the Italians like to make the chambers smaller than the bore, no idea why

    Opening the Cylinders ?

Got a new Pietta 1858 The cylinders measure .446 Bore .451 I know this is the norm for Pietta, but I want the cylinders opened up for better accuracy. Is there a tool I can buy or rent to ream the cylinders or someone I can send the cylinder to to get it reamed to .450 - .452

    Pietta 1858 ?

Is this the norm for a pieta 1858. Looking at the pic on Cabelas site. Note where the arrow is pointing, kinda has a little hook look. I ask because I have a line on a new unfired one from a member on another site and it looks just like the one in the pic. Any pics of yours to compare to ? Thanks

    1858 Bore Specs ?

Thanks guys, that was the info I needed. Now with Ubertis specs being what they are, I'm thinking Pietta has a big accuracy advantage. .460 is just to big to try to match the chambers to and then have a special mold made for proper fitting balls. I was leaning toward the Uberti because I have...

    1858 Bore Specs ?

Looked at Dixies site. Shows a bore of .440 and grooves of .460 and a chamber of .450 :shocked2: That's .020 of difference between bore and groove. Also a chamber of .010 smaller then the grooves. So the ball is riding only on the lands and never touching the grooves, that would seem to allow...

I tried Dixie, no specs. Tried Beretta, Guy gave me a couple numbers but was not sure himself.
