    Beretta muzzleloading Shotgun

These were made as a commerative item, you won't get parts from the factory. Just have to watch for them elsewhere, but hard to find. See the link to previous posts on the lower barrel.. Have to really check everything, watch swabbing, etc. Still struggle with mine some. rayb

If you cook and eat it, they STILL won't come!

That receipe is grounds for divorce. Making it and then calling it chili is the equivalent of capital murder. :m2c: rayb

    Mortimer purchased; Piggybank deceased...

"Frankonia Jagdt in Darmstadt" that was great place to visit in the late 1970's hope it still is. Used to go there and the Rod & Gun club in Darmstadt also. Lots of good fun. Used to shoot at a military range NE of Darmstadt on weekends also. Don't remembe the name right now. Have to go...

    Need advise on .62 smoothebore

musketman is right for the unchoked guns. however if you decide to use a choke, you may find the opposite to be true. It was true in 2 choked guns i have, one jug choked and one squeeze chocked. More powder, a little less shot for choked guns worked for me.... of course :results: rayb

    Authentic popcorn?

The greatest tasting popcorn is made with those preloaded aluminum foil packages, cooked by lighting a chunk of C-4 explosive in a C-ration can stove made with your church key. Definitely PC correct for a previous century..... rayb

    simple green as bore cleaner

Based on the recommendation of my more experienced younger brother, i used simple green to degrease a cosmoline soaked military surplus rifle stock. Worked well for that purpose. Pulled lots and lots of oil out of that stock, definitely changed the appearance and color. Definitely a grease/oil...

    Water bags

As usual, Claude has good pictures. Mine most closely resembles the "Atlas" model in Claude's pictures. I guess it is a "one gallon" vs the 2 gallon models also shown in Claude's excellent pictures. Hey Claude, did you know 2 Hudson car hoods welded together can make a boat? I have seen it...

    Water bags

well, let me get my new digital camera working & learn how to do that. i don't think the plastic cap is very PC, but it could be replaced by a cork if that is a consideration. some of the older ones i used to have had the corks. It's just a rectangular bag, about 18" x 24", off white colr...

Memorial day is not a holiday. It is a day for remembering fallen friends, family and fellow soldiers who died protecting this great nation. God Bless the United States of America rayb

    Early morning coffee

re: mesquite beans yes, they're ok to eat, but they have to be ripe, the green ones taste bad (to me). Took a bite from a huisache bean once. once. once was enough. :nono: someone gave me some mesquite bean jelly, it was ok. but one jar it had some diced jalepeno in it also, kind of...

    Water bags

When i made the original post i may have made an error. I said it was made of a heavy linen material. I found my bag. On it is stamped "Made in the USA of Pure Scottish Flax". I don't know if linen is made out of flax or what. Anyway that's what is says. Just trying to get the details...

    Tow?

Never used tow, but I've taken cleaning patches that were used with warm water only, put them in socks, tied them up and washed the socks in the washing machine. just cheap i guess.... :) I was even married at the time. wife #1 was more tolerant about some things than the others... :crackup...

    Pattern difference

well at least there's 2 chickens..... but i am realy set on not trying it. I like that tight pattern too much. Now if i could just hit more clay pigeons with it.... practice, practice, practice.... rayb

    Pattern difference

I've got a jug chocked 12 ga. it seems to be the same diameter on either side of the "jug" but i don't have the right instrument to really check it precisely. it is used to shoot trap and whatever else. I've not shot a round ball through it, and probably won't because it really patterns well...

    Water bags

The one i have was purchased. It is made of heavy linen type cloth, may have some kind of wx treatment but not sure about that. Has a canteen type opening on one end with a cork to close the hole. Used to see them in feed stores, etc, but haven't seen one lately. rayb

    Water bags

Anybody else use a water bag? The linen kind that you hang up in the shade, the evaporation cools the water. I know a lot of you are from up around the arctic circle and don't have much of a summer, but for the southwest they sure work good. Mine was a gift from a friend, now gone. Used to see...
