    GPR and TC locks

Per requests I've received: For general information, T/C's late '90s redesigned lock includes a hammer that is both taller and has a different angle of attack...has completely rejuvenated T/C's Flintlock environment. If time is spent on websites where there are numbers of T/C Flintlock users...

    TVM Custom build

Food for thought...I'm 6'4" with 38" sleeve lengths and found 14" to be plenty. if you're going to be using it for hunting with layers of hunting clothes you might be sorry to go with an LOP that long. FYI, Had several built by TVM and they're great...

    GPR and TC locks

T/C made a major redesign / improvement of their Flintlock assemblies in the mid to late 90's...I used them on several different caliber T/C Hawkens and Cougars for almost 10 years...outstanding, trouble free, reliable locks...no need for any 3rd party replacements, etc. Just be sure you get...

    Steel threads on Brass tips?

Back in the early years, I had an all brass threaded jag break off...threw them all away, switched to steel threaded jags & pullers, never worried about it again.

    New Barrel,,different twist

No hands on experience with a 1:32" twist...closest have been 1:48" in shallow groove .45/.50/.54cal T/C factory barrels. I will say, on the premis that I don't know how a "round sphere" could be "overstabilized", I'd suspect it'll shoot just fine.

Evidently you've never used it for hunting ?

    Might my rifles become orphans?

FYI, you wouldn't see any change in POI to speak of at a mere 40yds

Powder charge & RB point of impact?

All mine have rear sights but that's irrelevant. Even at 50 yards, the higher velocity loads gave tighter groups. Dropped back to a lesser charge, groups opened back up...return to the higher charge and the groups tightened back up. I have no interest in changing your mind, I have no interest...

Powder charge & RB point of impact?

You know that I have a long standing appreciation for so much info that you share, so I make this next comment only on the basis of facts represented by a different experience, repeatedly over several years with 6 different smoothbores, barrel types, barrel lengths, etc. My experiences have...

Powder charge & RB point of impact?

Agree...when I was doing load development with the Rice 38" x .62cal smoothbore, from past experience I knew not to waste time and money starting with anything less than 90grns Goex 2F to establish a baseline. Then tried 100grns and noticed the group improved slightly but nothing to write home...

Powder charge & RB point of impact?

SC, FWIW, every one of the half dozen 28 and 20ga smoothbores I've owned / hunted with always got noticeably tighter groups with increased velocity in 32" GM barrels, 38" Rice barrels, and 42" Rice barrels. As far as I'm concerned, 70grns is pretty much an entry level, 25 yard tin can plinking...

Fouling the barrel before a hunt?

Amen...even after shooting a deer, I'm in no hurry to go after it...take 10 minutes with a field cleaning kit to clean/dry/lube the bore before reloading then clean the lock up as well...no way do I hunt with a dirty Flintlock.

Ultimate effect of how hard a charge/projectile is rammed?

FYI...unloaded the 28ga again after a Turkey hunt and got the same result.

Ultimate effect of how hard a charge/projectile is rammed?

Mine are very strong brass and I do lean on them...at least there's not much left in question about my shot to shot consistency with seating pressure
