September 2 Is World Coconut Day!

I've had the pleasure of enjoying a fresh coconut. The green kind where the senioritas takes a machete and lops off the top, inserting a straw to suck the juice from the middle. The flesh is soft and thick, totally unlike the dry crap you get in a bag to make cakes with.

    Flints?

Thanks, gang. I'm in Southern Illinois and am not sure if chert is local here. I need to investigate!

    Green River knives

I'm "well pleased" with my Nowll's butcher's knife. Still sourcing a goof sheath for it and want to refinish the handle and force patina the blade to endarken it.

Who among us are PIPE smokers?

I've been dipping Copenhagen Straight long cut. Good stuff. I love tobacco! I keep it in check to avoid diseases but boy it's enjoyable.

    Blueing a pistol barrell

I think that price is absolutely insane to be frankly honest. You could have done a beautiful (and more traditional) slow rust bluing job yourself for about $20 in materials and minimal effort. You got took, pard. Don't feel too discouraged, though. It happens to the best of us sometimes!

    Track of the Wolf

Most Track flints I've bought have more humps than a flock of camels. 🐫

    Flintlock howdah?!

I've always thought a brace of Howdahs loaded with #7s and draped across the Cub Cadet in saddle holsters would make excellent lawnmower snake dispatchers!

    Lifespan of a Rifle?

For how long on average were rifles used? Would it be realistic for an early 1760s era Virginia rifle to show up in use years later during the fur trade? Say 1820s-1830s? I’ve got a Kibler Woodsrunner but don’t really know what “period” it would be correct for. Just around the time of the...

    Old Maynard/New owner

Now THAT'S a dandy!! $2K is right in line for a good condition Maynard's, so you done just fine. Your crack don't look to bad, easily repairable with some adheasive and clamping. Maynard's patent breech-loading cavalry carbines are a hoot and then some. Confederates loved them and considered...

    Flints?

Where are you all getting your flints? I’m noticing rhe prices are rising on them and want to stock up before they get permanently inflated like everything else in the hobby. Thanks!

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

The Confederates appreciated a round ball from a Navy. Said it struck hard. Elmer Keith interviewed CS vets and they spoke highly of round ball in them. Said they was better than conicals. From Keith's Sixguns.

    Which Ga Kibler Fowler?

If you're wanting to shoot just shot, the 16 gauge is what you want. Ball or both? The 20. The 16 gauge is going to be lighter in the barrel, easier to carry, swing better. More appropriate for birding. Sounds like the 16 is what you're after. The 16 will shoot ball fine, but is more costly...

    Flintlock howdah?!

I'd love for Kibler's to bring out a Howdah but in a proper Howdah caliber such as a 12 or 10 bore.
