I agree that they are a paranoid bunch!! Low IQ, I do not!! Being a large ground bird they deal with all kinds of predators! And they flourish! Only thing that gets them killed is what has been killing males of all species for hundreds of years! The female of the species!! ;)

I’ve called them in in the wind, but it takes a lot of patience!! They hear better than we do! So they will come in but you just won’t hear them. They don’t talk as much but they keep doing what they are doing. They live in that stuff every day! When the urge to breed hits, nothing slows them...

Thanks Gents!! Wish I could find time to get out and find more birds!! The few additional times I’ve been out, I haven’t heard any birds or found any sign of them. The woods are big with lots of places for them to roam now that the snow is finally coming off! I have until the end of May! So...

I would stay away from any round ball in a modern choked gun. Jug choked is a different beast all together. You would hate to blow off the muzzle! I get all my wads from the Possible shop. They have fiber wads, all kinds of card wads and felt wads too! Good luck with your load development!!

That’s how it will be for me in Nevada. Near impossible to draw the few tags they give out! I plan to go to Oregon and California to get my turkey fix! I started plan to start putting in for a coveted Gould’s tag starting next year too! Good luck on your draw!!

I agree Azmntman there are two sweet spots. How long they last varies on place. First one is early when the birds are still in their winter groups and looking for each other. The second is when the Hens are bred and start sitting on nests to lay their eggs. then the Toms are looking for company...

I like your hunt set up! I can't wait to get back to doing it that way! Sleeping under Canvas!! Keep at it! the hens will go off to lay soon and them Toms will be looking for company!! I can't wait to see how Round Two goes!! I have not seen or heard anything since my Unlucky/lucky season...
