    Death of muzzleloading

For me the flowering of muzzle loading started, 1970 ,while I was in Ammo school class 1170 at Quantico Va, Myself and 2 other students bought a muzzle loading pistol out of a magazine. I talked to the schools !st Sgt and he let us use the back room of the schools office, only on off duty...

Where do you draw the line?

I like the old ways and things. But I'm old enough to know that my ways are not for everyone else. Everyone has to find what they like and are happy with. So for me and me alone my answer has to be no to all. gunny

.22 shorts used as caps revisited.

Steam, I got mine from Sharpshooter 22 ,cost $49.95 and the primmer mix cost$19.95. I am very satisfied with mine but there is a learning curve. Search the forum for Sharpshooter 22 and you'll find all the information ,in's and out's. Much better than I can explain. gunny

.22 shorts used as caps revisited.

Eutycus, Bought some and tried on rifles and pistols they worked just fine. Haven't tried with a loaded weapon. The butt chewing I got from the SgtMaj at 1:00 AM has convinced me to wait for warmer weather for the real test. I did notice that the plastic would wedge at times in the hammer , but...

    Main charge question

Best accuracy for me is 90 gr of fff in my 54 cal Great Plaines and 65 gr of fff in my 50 cal CVA Hawkin both using Pyrodex. Use 60 gr of fff in my flint 50 cal Trade Rifle real Black powder. For plinking I use the same charges, Practice same as the way you hunt. gunny

    Iowa

Used to go, in my younger days , to Albert Lee with my uncles and cousins to get trailer loads of potatoes for their family grocery store. I believe I have done the same in Minnesota and iowa at times. gunny

    Into the Wild Frontier

I couldn't wait for this series to begin. So far haven't been disappointed. I read all that I can about old things and muzzleloaders. While in collage , for a speech class I gave a speech/demonstration on loading a black powder shotgun. I doubt you could do that now in these times. gunny

    Regarding Carrying Tomahawks

I also think that tomahawks were not sharp , at least as a knife. Just a club with a hunk of iron on the end , but still able to bruise its way through wood. Just my thoughts. Gunny

    Tap or not (powder measure)?

I voted no tap, try to be consistent when around black powder. The SgtMaj says I'm constantly , inconsistent. Whatever that means. gunny
