    Civil War Cased Target Rifle

Beautiful! I've an original heavy barrel target rifle that's fun to shoot. Similar to you, my interest stemmed from my USSS impression. I still need to get a "case/wagon box for it (my wood working skills aren't up to putting something together) and get some implements for in it. Mike

    Colt revolving rifle

'evening, While I don't know for certain, I would assume that they would be pistol size. Because the wings on the musket caps would potentially interfere with the cylinder revolving and/or clearance on the cones. Here's a link to one for sale...

    Drying your tent?

'morning, Similar to what necchi said. If I can't set it up to dry, I have hooks in the basement rafters that correspond to the ridge holes. Used bungies to various things to hold it open. I also have a dehumidifier that was under it, and I set up a stand fan across the basement just to keep...

WANTED New 1863 sharps and Smith carbine nipples

'morning, The cones that fit the Pedersoli Sharps also fit the Garret. I just swapped mine to make sure I was remembering correctly. Mike

    Ignition while loading

'afternoon, I've seen it once, at a reenactment last month. Loading from a paper cartridge after firing, must've been an ember near the muzzle, because it all went off in his hand. Very fortunately no serious burns. Looking back, that second of shock on everyone's face... Mike

SOLD Garrett Arms 1863 Sharps Carbine

Great price on a great carbine. My Garrett is the most accurate Sharps I've ever handled. Mike

    Value of Austrian Lorentz

'afternoon, As you said, without photos, it's difficult. Based on your description, I would think $900 is reasonable - if it comes with the bayonet. Bayonets in good condition are more difficult to find than the musket. At least from what I've seen. If you get it, be sure to post some photos...

Want to buy Civil War reproduction rifle

'morning, I'll second what has already been said, check things out before you buy ANYTHING. Most units will have loaner gear, including muskets. Some units want a specific musket, while most you can use any three bander. Mike

WITHDRAWN REDUCED .50 Traditions Deluxe Pennsylvania Rifle

'morning, I've got the same rifle, and it's a very good shooter. A little nose heavy, but nothing overly excessive. And having traded with BigSkyRamber before, he'll treat you right. Mike

    Ground Cloth for Museum Wedge

'morning, Similar to Brazos John, I use a painter's tarp, under it I just have a cheap blue plastic tarp. Little more work to put two down, but if it's good weather, I only use the painter's tarp. Mike

    Windex Cleans "right now"

At home, I use hot water. In the field, I carry a little bottle of windshield washer cleaner. Works great, and don't have to heat it up like water. Mike

    Panther Primitives Tents

'morning, I've had half a dozen Panthers of different styles over the years, and they are hands down the best tents out there. The quality and attention to detail can't be beat. A little pricer than some, but well worth it. Mike

    LeMat Revolver

'morning, The loading lever is a major weak point. Because of the shot barrel, it's not centerline, it's offset. And it's attached to the side of the frame by a single screw. The upper screw that you see is for the ram itself, so that it can pivot. And whatever you do, never take the sideplate...

    Possible trade

'afternoon, I have both Colts and Remingtons, although none of them have a stock. I prefer the feel of the Colt in my hand (the .36 moreso than the .44), but the Remington has better sights (traditional pistol sights, not a modified long range) and is easier to shoot. Less cap jams (the Colts...

    Ramrods and Re-enactments (and stuff)

'afternoon, Well said. It's been proven that level aiming, or low aiming, is safer. But too many instantly forget that "what goes up must come down" when it comes to muskets. And most officers have magots for brains anyway, because they refuse to ever put down their authority and pick up a...

    Educating Kids

Even in PA, you can't bring anything including bayonets. I've given up on doing school programs, which is sad. Mike

    Whitworth stuff

Beautiful! I've been thinking/looking for something like that for my original heavy barrel target rifle. Just haven't found anyone local to do it. Mike

SOLD Numrich Arms .45 caliber swivel breech

'morning, I had a blacksmith friend of mine make me a heavier mainspring. I'm actually still in the process of lightening the new mainspring, because it's a bit too heavy for the trigger to activate. So that's also an option for the buyer. Mike
