    Lyman GPR "cleanout plug" question

About 20 cleanings into my GPR, I know how much to screw it down and not hit the nipple. Neither moves on me. Anti seize or nipple grease is what I put on the clean out screw.

    Track o Wolf pillow ticking

I think they are starched cause I lubed a few with ballistol/water and they curled up on me. My washed walmart ticking does not, it lays flat easily.

    Weighing Powder Charges

I do cartridge reloading. For rifle precision, EVERY one is weighed to within .1grain. Pistols, I'll use a powder thrower and typical variance within say 50 rounds is still .2 grains. With Say Centerfire Rifle reloading if your doing what's called Optimum Charge Weight load testing (OCW)...

    Track o Wolf pillow ticking

Are you folks cutting at muzzle? I like pre cut patches for now. But hand cutting is a pain. Can't seem to find a patch punch worth my while. BTW, The thickness works for me cause I"m using .495 balls in a .50 and .535 balls in a .54

how many guns to the range?

4 hours of shooting at a time. Envious. I usually only have 1-2. I always bring more than one gun, but not always 2 MLders. I guarantee if I bring just one rifle, I'll forget something or something will go wrong and I'll be headed home with a frown. It had been 3 weeks since I"d fired a...

    Track o Wolf pillow ticking

On my last order I got some TOW un lubed pillow ticking. I kept it for when I ran out of Walmart patches I cut. I tried it today. I spit patch and in my mouth the texture was different. felt more dense. Just wondering if anyone else uses their pre cut unlubed patches and if your happy with...

Revolutionary War Semi correct Long Rifle

All the suggestions are welcome so far. I did contact Tip Curtis to get an idea on prices and what he had. I also learned here that what I was looking for did not really exist for what I thought was the price range I was initially planning to spend. For now, I may just roam the local gun shows...

    Changing patch material and lube?

But if you discontinue selling, you won't be having any income either. My point is that If you offer it digital only at either the same Price or the current price minus current cost, you will at least still be able to offer it. You mentioned you considered discontinuing because of declining...

Revolutionary War Semi correct Long Rifle

Ok, I'd like a flintlock. But I"m thinking I'd want something semi period correct to the revolutionary war. Looking at the Pedersoli Kentucky and Pennsylvania Long rifles at Cabelas, I'm thinking I may catch one of those on sale at some point. Would These fit my description of "semi period...

    USB Scope pics of Breeches

OK, here is an uncleaned dirty bore. I left it dirty and drove home after a range trip, then cleaned it. DIRTY: CLEANED (4 patches in the toilet, Pipe cleaner through clean out hole, alcohol, dry, 22 cal brush w/ patch, Barricade)

    USB Scope pics of Breeches

I am doing this on an old Windows XP machine. The USB camera does not come with any software so when I plug it in, it appears in windows file explorer. I right click and I think what I chose was something like "take pictures". If you double click it, it will allow you to view but not take pics...

    USB Scope pics of Breeches

This was $30 when I got it in the spring. The price is down significantly so it's a bargain. http://www.amazon.com/niceeshop-Waterproof-Endoscope-Borescope-Inspection/dp/B00AF1UMJ8 well, if you know the diameter of your bore, get one slightly smaller. This one says 10mm which is just under .40"

    working up a load

Ahh, the OCW method, Yup. I think my thing is that On my first ML, I started working up a load and I had patch issues. My ML was cutting patches. Seems to me that job #1 is to make sure I have a good ball and patch (as you mention), Many seasoned ML shootings I have talked to don't mention...

    Tips for Offhand shooting

Hmm, all this talk about weight lifting. I was at a ML shoot. The guy to the right of me was like 70+ years old and barely 140lbs. Guy on the left of me was 50+ and probably 170lbs. Guy on the left was planting groups about 3" @ 50 yards. Old guy on the right made me look silly. I think there...

    rear peep sights

There is a reason you see a rear Peep on the 1903A3, M1 Garand and M1 Carbine. The Japanese Arisaka has a mid mounted Peep and although it IMHO is a better sight than the traditional Sight, it pails in comparison to the rear mounted Peep. I still have my rear barrel mounted sight on my Lyman...

    working up a load

Question, when working up a load, how much variation in group size do you notice? For example, lets say, 50 cal patched round ball. With one particular load of about 65 grains, I know the best ball size and patch combo that I can get a tight group with @ 50 yards. Now, If I go back and say...
