    Filing maple

Is there a trick for filing in a 60 angle in maple? I am doing the angles in the side of a sliding patchbox. Using a triangle file with one side smooth. My file is pretty aggressive and zipped through the metal buttplate with no problem. It kinda "skateing" across the wood without cutting very...

    Recomended reading.

    I second that. Good book.

Triangle file with one side ground smooth works fine on the metal, now try it on maple for a sliding patchbox. I am still trying to find an easier way of this.

    Chisel gouge guages

I ended up getting a small Flex Cut kit with an additional smaller gouge. I'll start with it and see how it goes. Thanks.

    Chisel gouge guages

Been looking around at chisels for relief carving and my head is kinda spinning with all the different profiles. Is there a "go to" gouge guage size that will make most of the concave cuts? Thanks for any input.

    the no barrel blues

I'll give it a little more time. Still working the stock and everything down. Hopefully it will be in when I run out of other things to work on.

    the no barrel blues

I would if I had a known wait time. I paid with a money order so they couldn't just credit the payment back to me.

    the no barrel blues

I've got everything for my build but have been waiting on the lock from them. I always wondered what the "accepting orders" statement means. They've got the 30 day wait, 60 day wait and I guess it means the who knows.

I still don't see any sign of a frizzen screw hole for it or the spring. The mainspring bolt and spring lug can be seen from the front. The two faint ones on either side of the "pan" are actually part of it pinned through the lock plate.

I couldn't see any trace of a frizzen spring hole either. He's bringing it back to work monday and I will take some pics of the whole gun.

Putting this on here for a friend. It's off of a Jeager and pretty sure it's a conversion. Anyone know what the orginal lock was off of? [/img] [/img] [/img]
