Would that be the single cut american pattern file or one of the single cut triangular taper files? Any length or particular file that you like?

The ones I am using are the tapered 6" ones. I buy 6 of them at a time & use them til dull & toss them in a bucket for later use making scrapers & etc.

This is handy on your files, for cleaning the brass or steel that gets embedded in the files that a card file will not dislodge....

It is a .44 cal cartridge, punch out the dead primer, drill out the hole, put a wood screw thru it into a piece of dowel rod. You lay the file on the bench, or lay a triangular file in the barely opened jaws of the vice. Hole the new tool vertically & rub it back & forth with the grooves of the file & it pulls those galded particles out.

If the file gets particles embedded into it, it will nut cut smooth & makes gouges in what you are filing. This cleans out those particles.

As I recall, swipe a piece of chalk across the file before filing metal, helps keep the brass and steel from sticking in the grooves.

Triangle file with one side ground smooth works fine on the metal, now try it on maple for a sliding patchbox. I am still trying to find an easier way of this.

You have the photo on Photobucket. All you do is put your cursor over the photo & 4 things appear at the bottom, go to the bottom one & click it & it will say COPIED.
Come back to your post & right click under your post & then click Paste. The photo link will appear & then you can go to the bottom & click Preview if you want to see how it appears, then if it is OK, go down again & click Post.

It is very easy. If I can do it, anyone can do it.
