    Refinished my GPR

I used a propane torch. I have a 4ft piece of 7/16th aluminum rod that I clamped in a vice and slid the barrel on untill it bottomed against the breech plug, I rotated and heated (ran the torch back and forth along the barrel) for about 10 min's or so until a drop of water would sizzle then...

    Refinished my GPR

I'll take some tomorrow, they are from Log Cabin Shop the rear is the flat top p/n 50024 and the front is a .085 silver blade on brass p/n 50080. The rear is actually wider than it looks on the web site and is a little taller than the stock fixed rear sight.

    My newest acquisition a 50 caliber Mowry….Mowrey.

I also have a Mowrey, mine is 45cal I have had it for close to 25 years and will go to my boys when I can't shoot any more. I bought a replacement butt stock from Deer Creek because the original pull lenght was about 12 inches when I bought it. Here are some pics.

    Sights

I need a set of more appropriate sights for a slim Tennesse style rifle with a 3/4" 45 cal barrel. It currently has a set of modern Lyman hunting sights (they were on it when I bought it)I would like something in a mid to tall style. I have looked at TOW and Dixie but really don't see anything...

    Found this pot today

Found this pot today at a local antique store. Looked like it had been used as a flower pot it is fairly pitted inside, I spent a couple of hours scrubbing and brushing the inside. Filled it with water and boiled it twice then washed again, baked it, oiled and baked again.

    Kik vs Goex

According to their latest post Nov. 22 they say don't bother calling about Goex 2F because they don't have any and won't be taking orders for it untill they know when they will be getting some in.

    Kik vs Goex

How does Kik compare to Goex in performance? Was going to order some 2F Goex from Powder Inc but saw on their website that they are out of 2F and don't know when they will be getting any. They are suggesting Kik powder to replace the Goex for now about the same price. I'm down to my last pound...

    Your favorite solution??

I use Hoppe's #9 Black Powder Solvent and Patch Lube. Also use it as a patch lube so I usually just put a litle on a cleaning patch and swab between every 2nd or 3rd shot. Works for me.

    What the heck is it?

Hey Bill, I did the same thing since it was going to be cool and wet day, ran about 100 .445 and .495 rb's. Sounds like you had a chunk that didn't get fluxed 25 years ago and had some crud and oxidation in it. Rusty

    about cleaning patches

I use one of the Fisker's Roller Cutters takes about 20 minutes the cut 2 yards of flannel into 2 inch squares. No more chopping away with scissors you can also use it to cut up to 8 oz leather.
