    Another (Better?) Cow's Knee

Another (Better?) Cow's Knee I've never been successful at stretching and shaping leather into the desired shape, even thin leather. And I don't have piece of leather from an actual cow's knee. So I've always resorted to cutting and sewing. There's a pattern out there that's commonly suggested...

    DIY Tomahawk Sheath

I got a tablet-woven strap and sewed it to my sheath. It's done!

    DIY Tomahawk Sheath

I bought a small 7-inch hammer-polled tomahawk head, and I made a handle and sheath. All that's left is to find a woven strap to sew on the the tabs for a shoulder sling. I fashioned the handle from curly Maple with a draw knife and rasp. The handle shape is based on a few historical examples...

    WANTED LEGGINGS

I used a leather thong, threaded through slots I cut every 2 inches. I cut the thong from the same buckskin I used for the leggings

Let's see your Belt or Rifleman's knife

I guess my other knife (4 post above) wouldn't pass muster for being HC, so yesterday I knocked out this English trade knife in 5 hours. I made this knife using the same general process that was used to make the originals. So it's a rough mass produced "munitions grade" knife with a...

Let's see your Belt or Rifleman's knife

I made this knife a while back. Could I use this knife as my belt knife (Virginia c. 1800)? Or should I make an English style trade knife for my kit?

    Ken Netting rifle

yeah, I started looking into the details of my rifle and it's "similar" to the Ed Marshall but not quite right

    Ken Netting rifle

The gentleman who sold me this rifle last month said that Ken Netting made the rifle for him in 1987 as a custom build. Did I misunderstand what he said? I looked into the Edward Marshall Indian Walk transitional rifle, and this rifle looks just like it. Thank you!

    Ken Netting rifle

Thanks, I wanted an iron-mounted rifle. I like them better than brass. So what style of rifle is this? It is truly a "Virginia rifle?"

Okay, so I paid $2k How did I do?

    Ken Netting rifle

New flintlock shooter here. I just picked up a 1987 Ken Netting rifle with a swamped 50 cal. barrel. I did a few repairs on the sight and the ram rod. Haven't fired it yet. Two questions: 1. How did I do? 2. Does this rifle fit into a historical style of build? I was told it is a "Virginia rifle."

If FedEx stops delivering Black Powder…

I haven't had any trouble getting black powder. Just received 5 pounds of Goex from Buffalo (3f and 4f), $22/lb. delivered in 3 days, on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. And I bought 21 pounds of Goex (3f and 4f) from a local guy ($20/lb.).
