    Rem #10 in stock

I ordered 3 tins to be shipped to the store at the beginning of June. One was ready for pickup immediately and the other two I had to wait for arrival. Finally the other two arrived and I went to pick them up. Went to look at black powder supplies and they had at least 20 more tins for sale! I...

Stiff hammer Euroarms Rogers and Spencer

I think the way too high hammer spur is part of the problem. I am thinking of reworking the spur on mine at some point to make it a bit lower and easier get to. The nice thing is the hammer stroke is much shorter than most revolvers.

How I fixed my Remington pocket shoot to point of aim

How do you attach the sight? I have a newer brass frame version but I need to install a taller sight. Did you remove the existing sight and if so how? Is it pinned in? Just curious I need to do something about mine.

    DIY caps

There is a smaller bag of off white kinda beige colored powder. That’s the binder you don’t need to mix. The other three bags you mix the same ratio as it says on the bag. For a binder use acetone or even better acetone and duco cement mixed about 8 to 1 acetone to duco. When you mix it wet you...

    Grease in Revolver

Packing with grease and installing an action shield on the hammer means you don’t have to worry about cleaning the internal parts of the gun for a very long time, up to a year of heavy use. It’s not a necessity but a choice. If you like tearing your gun down completely then packing with grease...

    Grease in Revolver

Also look up action shield. The grease works better if you install a shield on the hammer. Keeps most of the gunk out of the gun so the grease stays clean longer.

    Reaching The 1858 Hammer

I had seen an article once about doing that. They cut out a bit of the hammer then bent it down a bit, then carefully welded to fill in the missing metal. Then some files to blend it all back together. You think the Remington hammer is tough to reach, you see the one on my Roger’s & Spencer...

First attempt at "antiqueing" the 1858

That came out great! I did something similar. I mixed permablue with water about 50/50, then applied to an area and wiped it off a second later with a wet rag. You have to do it several times. Then I did the same with laurel mountain browning solution. Then when done I rinsed and oiled for a...

How do you prep your C&B revolver for an outing?

You can buy some rubber pieces cut from a rubber hose or something that you can slide over the cap and nipples to help keep moisture out. Would maybe work even better if you put a bit of bees wax softened with a bit of oil or tallow in the hole in the rubber before applying to the cap and...

    BALLISTOL a fair shake

I use it, but only out in the garage with the door open. It’s not so much the smell that bothers me, but it makes me cough like a chain smoker and I don’t smoke. Not sure why it effects me that way.

    Antiqued 1858 Pietta

I took the original latch and drilled a hole in the other end of the loading lever and inserted the spring and latch in there. I also filed a deep notch along the front of the cylinder pin for the latch to seat into.

    Antiqued 1858 Pietta

I hear what you’re saying. I’m not an aging fanatic either, I just cut the barrel off and rounded the grip frame on my Remington, and I was either blueing the cut areas, or redoing the whole gun. So I decided to redo a different way and looked up ways to get an aged finish. It was about trying...

    Antiqued 1858 Pietta

The Ace is cool, but I wanted the barrel a bit longer and the rounded grip frame. You could round the grip frame on the Ace also if you choose to. You can remove the loading lever and purchase a lever that locks the cylinder pin in place. I believe some of the unmentionable cylinder makers sell...

    Antiqued 1858 Pietta

I did this to my Remington Sheriff’s model I bought in 2021. I like worn patina look so I mixed cold blue and water and wiped it on and immediately wiped it off a few times. Did the same thing with Laurel mountain forge browning solution. Then rinsed and wiped it down with ballistol. I stripped...
