    DUDE, SMOKED HIM!!!???

That's Ted Nugent, he's been saying that since at least the 70's. I feel pretty safe saying he has done more in his life for hunting, conservation, and hunter recruitment than all of us in this thread combined.

    DUDE, SMOKED HIM!!!???

I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about. Maybe there are some goofballs making amateur's videos, but I quite enjoy hunting shows. Michael Waddell, Ted Nugent, Steve Rinella, Tim Wells, Melissa Bachman. I love watching all of them. Sure, sometimes a bad shot is made, so what? Take...

    DUDE, SMOKED HIM!!!???

I did my share of butchering, although not on a commercial level. It was a joke in the show, but Ron Swanson is 100% correct. Not enough people look their dinner in the eye. The older I get, the more I want to kill everything I eat. I'm about 90% there, I don't buy store bought beef, chicken, or...

    DUDE, SMOKED HIM!!!???

I feel bad for some of you guys, and not just this thread, there's an exact same one on Castboolits. There's nothing wrong with giving thanks, or even feeling for the animal. Not being excited about success though, that's sad. If when you finally see an animal go down, or at least know you made...

When would a soldier "cap" their pistol?

Wow, you just opened up a whole new aspect of the ROA to me. It works exactly as you describe. I can't believe nobody has ever said anything about this before? I've even read the factory manual a few times, and never saw it. Thank you. Here's the fine revolver.

    I have grown weary.

I would never say Pyrodex doesn't work. It most certainly does, and I used it fine. It absolutely does rust sooner, and is not as forgiving as real blackpowder. That said, I will never, ever recommend Pyrodex to anyone for one simple reason. 777 exists. You can find 777 everywhere Pyrodex is...

    2F in pistols

As he said, there is no such thing as a wrong answer with blackpowder. I only ever keep 1Fg in my powder horn, and I often just use that on my pistols. It works fine in my Ruger Old Army.

    Ruger Field Carry

I have Track of the Wolf nipples on mine. CCI #11 magnum caps are all that I use anymore. They fit great. I've heard claims that the magnums are different, but I've used both the CCI #11 and CCI #11 magnum side by side, and I certainly can't feel any difference at all when seating them on the...

When would a soldier "cap" their pistol?

Sorry to steal the thread, but is there a way to carry my Old Army safely with all cylinders capped? I've always done 5/6, and never gave it any more thought.

    Double for deer?

You can use any shot size you want in any shotgun safe to fire, it makes no difference.

    Duck and Goose bismuth shot

I would like to share my experiences in the past and present with using bismuth shot on waterfowl. I've been using this shot for a few years in breech loaders and muzzleloaders. I've tried all kinds of sizes from #6 up to #BB, and I've settled in now to where I have a pretty good understanding...

    Double for deer?

There's only one way to know whether a double can shoot a single ball, and that's to try it. If you get lucky, one of the two barrels will hit really close to the bead, and you should be able to use that effectively to 40-50 yards. If you aren't so lucky, then I'd run both barrels with...

Bore Size for a Jaeger "Stutz" Barrel?

From what I can tell, Stutz just means carbine, as in probably 18"-20" barrel, and a super thick one at that. I think it pretty safe to say a smooth bore Jaeger Stutz would have the wingshooting characteristics of a rock tied to a 2x4. I'd just forget about plastic wads. I've tried them with...

Bore Size for a Jaeger "Stutz" Barrel?

I know nothing about a Stutz, I only saw your very thick breech. 10 gauge is never a bad choice.

    Buying a kibler colonial. 54 or 58?

I support anyone who likes to stay traditional on traditional rifles, but I think even giving a second thought to whether 50, 54, 58 caliber is more historically correct has lost sight of what matters.

Bore Size for a Jaeger "Stutz" Barrel?

Is this going to be a octagon to round barrel? Unless there is some kind of aggressive reduction, that sounds like a real pig to me. I'd be looking at a 10 gauge for sure, if not an 8 gauge.

    Buying a kibler colonial. 54 or 58?

I'm a 54 caliber guy through and through. That said, in this particular gun, I'd get the 58 caliber without a second thought.

Cleaning patch size for 20 gauge

The price of pre-cut cleaning patches is absolute lunacy. $50 for a bag that might last me a year, made of $1 of fabric. It has been many years since I bought any. I have never run out of old T shirts. By the time I cut one up, I have another or three ready to be retired. The patches only need...

The GOEX Plant is shutting down

I'm not a purist. Pyrodex is not as good of a powder as 777 in any way. That is all.
