Is a flinter hard to learn?

Ditto on what Tex said about follow through. After you pull the trigger don't start to lower the gun. Wait a second, it can throw you off. A friend new to flint says he can see the hammer drop, I say ignore the hammer and flash, if your watching that you will never hit anything. Some guns like...

    free lead

Just to twist your pantys. I live about twenty minutes from Fort Shenandoah (headquarters for the N-SSA). I am a member and spent just twenty five minutes at the range where I picked up 28.7 LBS. of free lead just lying on the ground. We just had our spring national where at least a thousand...

    No homebrewers?

I used to brew a lot of beer but for the last year or so I have been brewing sake. Easier than beer and much higher octain. In glass container pour 4 and 1/2 cups sugar into one gal hot tap water, stir well, add 4 and 1/2 cups cheap rice and a small handful of dark raisins, add two packs of dry...

    Morse "inside lock" musket

Hi gang, thanks for the interest in the Morse lock. I have spent days now trying to track down a picture of the workings. Once I get a bug like this It's hard to give up. This must be a really simple lock to take up so little space.

    Morse "inside lock" musket

Morse inside lock musket. Don't understand moving my post. The morse musket is by all definitions a muzzle loading smooth bore musket. Yes there is a morse carbine but that is not what I asked about. The morse has a small oval lockplate but otherwise appears to be a normal issue musket of the...

    stock finish on walnut

building a .32 sqirrel gun with walnut stock I plan to use walnut stain first, ( because I bought a flint pistol once that way), and it was nice). What I want is that appearance of depth to the finish. Prehaps tong oil or danish oil. Any favorite methods out there?

    cap box design

Why is there a second flap under the first one on a leather .58 CW cap box, and why is there a strip of sheeps wool on the body side of the box. Is the wool there to assure a grasp on the caps and is the second flap to rain proof the contents. Seems both South and north used the same design.

    need advise for .58 springfield

Thanks guys, It turns out that there was linotype in my lead pot. After looking at some of the minis I dug out of a stump I found that one of them actually broke when it hit. I load a bunch of modern stuff and confused my lead. I have some pure stuff somewhere in the shop.
