    I was just wondering I live in Northern VT and work in the antiques field, I've seen some questionably enhanced scrimshaw work its way through in the last 6-8 months. A lot of times someone will take a legitimately old item (a powder horn etc.) and add new carvings to it to make it more interesting.

    The varnish around the carving is suspicious to me, as well as type of engraving. What shop did you get it from if you don't mind me asking?

    Mick, and Sacremento. It's an issue of front end weight, my GPR is a long and a little front heavy, it's fine for my 6'6" body but on a smaller person it can be awkward, I'm going to look at the Thompson, and the deer stalker and see what I can find for a good deal. Thanks!

    I work as an appraiser at an auction house, and I would caution against "using this gun to gather game". Firearms from this era are becoming increasingly rare and valuable. Many bring hundreds or even thousands of dollars and are very collectable. I would have a qualified appraiser in your area...

    Static Sparks Ignition

    I'm not so sure about this, I see that they're making a muzzleloader with an electric ignition system now. I'm sure the amount of static in your measure isn't that much, but I assume that it could still set it off.
