    How big can i go?

    this is the plan. im building a half stock PA rifle i want it to have interchangeable barrels one .50 cal rifle the other smooth bore. im gonna use a 1" strait barrel. my ? is how big of a caliber can i go in a smooth bore with a 1" barrel? im only gonna be using shot out of it.

    the basic rifle, semi inleted stock, getz barrel, siler lock trigger guard, nose cap, but plate, and ramrod pipes are all from jim chambers www.flintlocks.com. the rest he made. the flowers and thumb piece are silver dollars and the brass around the patch box was just a piece he had laying around.

    Stain for a Maple stock?

    try nitric acid with just a little steel wool disolved in it. use bakin soda and water to neutralize it the longer you leave it on the wood the darker it will get might take a few coats.
