    What are these?

My buddy picked up two rifles yesterday, they are both a little different. Was wondering if someone could tell me a little about them and maybe what they are worth? First one is a Mowrey Gun works when they were made in Olney Texas. It has a brass frame, 32 inch barrel and has a Schutzen style...

    TC Hawken with GM barrel

Recently purchased a .54 TC Hawken with a unfired GM barrel. Love the gun but was wondering what thread and which nipple works best in the GM barrels? or any percusion gun for that matter, as this is my only cap gun, also while I am here how hard to convert to flintlock? I need some help here...

    stock carving

Does anyone know how to do any stock carving, or more like engraving. I have a nice stock that someone barely etched some very nice scroll type paterns on and I would like to go ahead and carve it, I don't want to do the raised typed but just more the engraved into the wood type. Brian Turner...

    Brown on top of Brown

Thanks for the info. I was going to try the brown on top of brown but when I degreased it and cleaned it, it took 90% of the color out, so I went ahead and took it down to bare metal and started over. Thanks again. Irish

    Brown on top of Brown

I have a pistol that I recently purchased but the browning on it is very thin looking almost like the builder did not put enough coats on it. Not knowing what browning technique he used will it hurt for me to brown over it? I have R.E. Davis browning solution that I usually use in a sweat box...

    .36 Early Virginia or Lancaster?

I picked up this little rifle awhile back. Don't know who built it but they used good stuff . It is a good piece of wood, a 42" douglas barrel, Siler lock, and shoots great. Notice in the picture they put a pattern on the stock in several places like they wanted to carve it but did not do it...

    Ball and Patch

I have a .50 cal flinter that takes .490 and to be honest I don't know what thickness my patch is, which shows my ignorance, but it shoots great with the .490 and pillow ticking patch. The blue and white stripe pillow ticking. If I go to the .495 I almost have to beat the ball down the barrel...

    Looking for a patch lube????

I don't have near the experience that most of these gentlemen have, but I use bore butter, and spit. I have some old stuff that is no longer made called White Feather that works great for running a patch down the barrel for quick cleaning, but would be a pain in the field. YMHS, Irish
