    Another GPR ?

The Butch's Bore Shine that came with the gun seemed to work fine for me.

    3F IN A .45 CAL FLINTER

I use 50 grains of 3F from a revolver so I don't see any problem with a slightly larger charge from a rifle, but you may want to start with the lightest load you feel is appropriate and work your way up toward the maximum with an eye toward the accuracy of each load you try.

    Accuracy potential

I wouldn't be too optimistic especially with fixed sights, but the best way to answer that question would be to try your gun out at fifty yards and see what it'll do. Try 12 shot groups, though that would show you if there is any inconsistency between the chambers.

    Patching Cannon Balls

:relax: The safety comment was geared toward modern re-enactors or shooters who would be more concerned about their safety and that of any spectators. :agree: That setting the battlefield on fire is not a major concern for actual combatants, until they find themselves lying wounded on a...

    Patching Cannon Balls

There was something I saw or read somewhere that showed a cannon being loaded with a handful of straw rammed down on the powder before the ball was loaded. I'm not sure if this was common practice, a field expedient, or somebodies fantasy, but it seems like it would be a fire hazard unless the...

    Loads for second model Dragoon.

Thanks Russ and Zonie, I appreciate the info. I have shot it with roundballs and enjoy shooting it a lot . I would like to try round nose pistol bullets from Buffalo Bullet Company. The nose is round and I believe has the same radius as the roundball. As for accuracy, mine seems to perform...

    Loads for second model Dragoon.

Does anyone here shoot conicals out of a 2nd Model Dragoon? If so what is the maximum safe load for a 180 grain bullet?

    Fox Ridge Outfitters/Renegade custom

Thanks for the quick response. It's a T/C Renegade that I'm looking for and this seems to be the only place to get the options I want.

    Fox Ridge Outfitters/Renegade custom

Can anybody give me some info or their thoughts concerning Fox Ridge Outfitters? I am considering their .58 cal Renegade, so any opinions or information on the gun would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance for your help.

    A few '51 Navy Qs.

I could believe it with the Draoon. I was surprised to find that my 2nd model Dragoon shot tighter and tighter groups as i increased the powder charge. I didn't get the same results with my Navy Colt. It seems to shoot best with a midrange load( about 15-18 grains).

    combustible paper cartridges for revolver?

I've been thinking about giving them a try, I saw a website that advertised cartridge paper somewhere, but I can't remember where I saw it. It would have to be quicker to load with them than measuring each charge as you load it. I tried making cartridges from cigarette papers, but they don't...

    A few '51 Navy Qs.

The History Channel said that Hickock killed Dave Tut with a shot through the heart from 75 yards away using a .36 cal. Navy Colt. If the range is correct that's a pretty impressive shot from any revolver with fixed open sights.

    A few '51 Navy Qs.

I use .375 in my .36 cal. and they work well for me. I don't have chamfered chambers, but my gun loads well and shoots accurately as it is, so I'm not gonna mess with it. I use .451 dia. balls in my .44 Dragoon, but want to try .454s if I can find some. I also use 180 grain Buffalo Bullets in...

    Misfires ,What I"m doing wrong?

I normally use one or two pushes on the pan charger, that's probably 5-10 grains. I don't worry too much about cleaning between shots, I occassionally( every 4-5 shots run a damp patch through the barrel.) I sometimes wet the patch with a little bit of water based solvent or plain old saliva...

    Misfires ,What I"m doing wrong?

I don't mind there's no need to apologize, and yes it's okay to put 4F down the barrel or to pour a little into the touchhole before you prime your pan. I agree I enjoy shooting my flintlocks and C&B revolvers and it's an addictive sport.

    Misfires ,What I"m doing wrong?

I think you may have overfilled the flashpan. Try just covering the bottom of the pan with 4F, but you shouldn't have to pick after priming, or even after every shot. It would be interesting to see if BP would have the same problem, but the pellets should work in the Firestorm.

    Misfires ,What I"m doing wrong?

That might be some of your problem if you pile the priming powder above the touchhole the gun can't fire until the powder burns down to the level of the touchhole. It burns from the top down.
