    Misfires?

I built a GPR a few months back, and have taken it to the range three times since then. The first time it worked perfectly. The other two times, though, I've loaded it up for the first shot, capped it, pulled the trigger...and the cap fires without setting off the charge. I recap, try...

    This is really getting frustrating

How much of a size difference is there between a 10 and 11 (just trying to determine if it is the wrong one). It's not visibly smaller, and there's no play in the cap when it's sitting on it...it's just not snug enough to stay put.

    This is really getting frustrating

It came in a sealed, original Knight package (from Midway that says #11 on it.

    This is really getting frustrating

I built my GPR, and the nippled was too big for a #11 cap. I ordered a new nipple (Knight Hot Shot), but in the interim I tried to file the existing one down. I got my new nipple yesterday, installed it...and it's too SMALL for a #11 cap. They fall right off of it!! Back to trying to file down...

    GPR problems/questions

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll be trying to fix the nipple this afternoon, and I think I may have fixed the trigger. I don't really know what it is or how it works, but the adjustment screw between the triggers seems to have done the trick. I back it out a half turn, and now she seems to work...

    GPR problems/questions

I took my new GPR out to the range today for the first time, and I have some issues. First, my CCI #11 caps don't fit on the nipple. They only go about halfway on, so they take two or three snaps before they fire. My question is, should I get new caps or a new nipple first? Which is more...

    My new GPR build

Just finished her up Friday night. I tried to go to the range Saturday, but the road was still washed out from all the rain last week. I really miss having a truck sometimes. :( Minwax "Rifle Stock" wood stain, stainless #2 screws from the hardware store, a nice black Duracoat finish. I...

    Personal kit

Ahhhh...one of my biggest grammar pet peeves surfaces again. :blah: As for the question, simple answer: Clothes, weaponry, fire starter, shelter (blanket, tent, etc), and food/water...or a way to procure/carry both

    Get my GPR back tomorrow

Well, the steel at least. It's been two weeks since I shipped it off to be Duracoated, and they finished it up today. Now I just have to slap it all together (and pick up some new, bigger screws for the wedge plates). Don't worry...there will be pictures for you all to laugh at my...

So I'm ordering some balls and patches

If I get .53 balls, I would need .01 patches for a .54 rifle, right? Or would I need .005 patches?

What rifle is that? I think my niece needs one.

    Question on gun finishes

Birchwood Casey cold bluing...the kind you buy in the little bottle at Academy. I cleaned the metal, dried it, and then, when I rubbed the bluing on, it splotched, spotted, and the next day was already showing light surface rust. :(

    Need a decent powder horn.

I just got the one I ordered from Red Sky Trading on Ebay. It is VERY nice, much more so than the $9.75 price tag would have indicated.

    Question on gun finishes

Oh I'm definitely doing it. I was just wondering if anyone around here had ever done it, or if this was going to be the first Duracoated GPR around these parts. ...and if y'all were going to kick me out for it. :blah:

    Question on gun finishes

Now I honestly don't know how well this is going to go over here, but here goes: Has anyone ever Duracoated/Teflon'd/etc a traditional muzzleloader? I have a 1911 that I had a local company StealthTech (Duracoat knock-off) years ago. The finish looks just like a standard bluing, but it's...

    Well now I've done it

There was already a hole there...so I don't know why they snapped off. Screws 1-5 went in perfect...6 and 7 snapped off...8 I hosed down with WD-40 and it went in nice and smooth. Thanks, I'll try your suggestion.

    Well now I've done it

I finished my GPR last night. I just cold blued the parts, and everything except the barrel turned out perfect. The barrel, though, is a bit a splotchy, but I don't really care; this is a shooter, not a decoration. One day I'll build another gun and try to make it perfect, but I'm happy with...
