    Grouse hunting with trade gun

Yeah my tip is threaded. I was thinking I could screw on a piece with a larger diameter. I have a cleaning jag.. but it no larger in diameter than my rod. Is there any advantage of cards over loose wadding?

    Grouse hunting with trade gun

yeah... it's too small then... okay... I kinda figured that was the case. The cards work fine if I put a ball in and then sit the card on top.. I may have to make an adaptor for my rod... or just use wadding.

    Grouse hunting with trade gun

    Grouse hunting with trade gun

Thanks guys... that helps a lot. Guess I will try a few cartridges and see how it goes. I'm just excited to get out into the woods with my flinter rather than that bulky Russian o/u 12 gauge. Probably get fewer birds though... who cares? The dog will.

    NW gun trigger pull help

The NW trade gun I just finished is pretty heavy too and I did put the pivot high. Actually.. it's only uncomfortably heavy on the first couple pulls, then it loosens up. Might this be a polishing issue? Once it loosens up, it's still heavy compared to other flinters I've shot.. but I wanted a...

    First musket, built from kit

So I just came back from the sand pit after shooting my 20 ga. NW Trade gun I built from Track of the Wolf. I grew up going to rendezvous with my Dad who was in the Simon Kenton Gun club in Dayton, Ohio and am finally getting the itch to get back into it.. although I will do more hunting than...
