smoking some serious pig this year

I hear you with the flintlock. I've got a sxs smooth barrel 60 cal I need to get familiar with and get us out into the woods. Some of these hogs could use a little more persuasion to drop. Best of luck with the flinter this year.

smoking some serious pig this year

The last one was a quota hunt at Andrews WMA. I hit quite a few different public lands in search of hog during each season.

    tracking

It's great to hear such effort being given to find them. I hear to many at the check stations tell of how they couldn't find it. You have to look at everything not just blood. I've had them take a very sharp turn and no blood after that turn, or stuff themselves in a tiny spot under the inkberry...

smoking some serious pig this year

I had a few bad boars, but this one smelled pretty good for a pig. I have a feeling there is a feeder off property.

smoking some serious pig this year

I started hunting 6 years ago and a hog was my first quarry, I've been hooked since. I took my first by muzzle loader last year, and it's been a hog filled season this year. I drug out a 135lber two nights ago. I've really got to remember to think about how far I am from the truck. I had a quota...

The single hog was at Devils Hammock wma and the other two was Tide swamp.

smoking some serious pig this year

Well it's been a ridiculous year for deer. During archery neither Jay or I could get a deer to just be in the right spot at the right time. They were either running or sneaking or the wind was swirling :cursing: We hunt crowded public land and no one did very well. On to Muzzle loader season...

Common spot for residue or do I have a problem?

Its a good chance the marks on the barrel are from repeated removal of the barrel for cleaning if you look at the lock where the bolster rest's you will see a part of the lock that looks seemed together and the barrel likely rubs on it coming in and out.

    need help with holster

OK so let me clear this up for those who seem think I'm leaving the pistols holstered full time I'm not, I simply like to carry them as back ups for the hunting season or for wild hog hunting. The problem is the pistol starts to rust in just a couple of days and that just doesn't float for me.

    need help with holster

I doubt that this is due to moisture as my other flap holster made by Oklahoma leather products for my 1858 has no problem being left for any length of time what so ever. so can I use neatsfoot oil for inside to help with this or will I be wasting my time?

    need help with holster

I bought a holster for my 1851 colt navy and every time I leave it in the holster for two or more days it quickly develops surface rust. It's a no frills basic flap holster, black leather. I am thinking the leather was not neutralized very well during the tanning process. Is there anything I can...

    Italian kentucky rifle twist rate?

I have an 1851 Revolver with the same PR marking on it and all I could find is it may have been made by an Italian company called Pierino Ruschetta. If you find anything more let me know as I'm still curious.

    .45 cal. arch?

Yes I was thinking round ball, and your dead on about the zeroing to 50yards but my problem is my lil backyard range is only 30yards and the closest rifle range that isn't a club that requires a membership is 2 hrs. away so I'm trying to get zeroed in the best way I can. thank you.

    .45 cal. arch?

Can anyone give me a reference as to how flat shooting a .45 cal.T/C Hawkin over 50gr. fffg would be? How much rise and fall can one expect at say 50 yards?

low light sights but traditional look

Something I thought of doing is to get some of the fiber optics made for achery sights and glue it to the front pin. I think Truglo makes it in a wire form so you can cut the length you need.

Thanks all, it was great to finally succeed the traditional way.

    First smokepole buck

I took a pig last year at the end of the season, but just had not gotten a deer yet with it. We had gotten a returned quota for a late mz hunt at a local wma. I was able to get off of work early Friday and headed over to reacquaint ourselves with the place( been a couple of years). The first day...
