    using spent cartridges as powder measures

    A 45-70 cartridge holds exactly 70 grains of FF black powder, I use one often, its very handy and I have lots of them. :thumbsup:

    Double load of black powder

    I lost my focus at the shooting range over the weekend :yakyak: and put two 70 grain black power charges on top of each other. :headslap: How I caught the mistake :idunno: I think I saw some powder dust puff out of the muzzle witch seemed out of place.Pulling the ramrod I check my height...

    PA conicals I use for hunting , easy loading in the field , added conical weight with the same point of impact as 50 cal. round ball and patch.My 50 cal. G.P.R. with a 1 in 60 twist shoots 70 grains FF Goex with 490 Round Ball and a .018 pillow ticking patch the same as with 80 grains FF Goex...

    Ramrod stuck in barrel blues

    Some cleaning jags do not have a tapered neck behind them. The ones that have a taper are harder to get stuck with the rite size patch.Twisting or no twisting :wink:

    Possible RMC vent issues

    It is the R.M.C. liner ! I had a new one blow out after six shots. Wrote and sent the blown out liner back to R.M.C. They made good on the liner and are investigating. Very good customer service!!! :bow:

    touch hole liner

    I clean my flintlock with water and I am concerned that the barrel side of the threads can rust the touch hole threads fast making it hard for the touch hole to eventuality be replaced with a new one! :confused: Thank You for your info. :)

    This is an old post chances are you got the brush out by now!!. If not you will need a slightly smaller diameter then your bore, length of copper pipe,, run the pipe down the bore pressing the wire brush inside and remove!!!

    Dixons is the greatest! Chuck is a very wise and knowledgeable man. I have a passion for traditional firearms, and I Live close to Dixons.I believe I am blessed. In this new age I pray that Dixons is around forever and ever. A shop like Dixons is few and far between!!!

    Jag stuck

    If the patch was dry that's why it is stuck, I pore some 91% isopropyl alcohol down the barrel, when you see it coming out the nipple after a minute or so push the rod forward, it will fall out like it was never stuck at all. :thumbsup:

    it was about a little better then .025 space under my GPR fixed sight, two shims on top of each other made from a tuna fish can top was the ticket! :thumbsup:

    windlass rust blocker

    F.Y.I.windlass rust blocker firearm cleaner,I have been using this on my firearms for a long time. Now that I am into black powder rust seems to be more of a issue. I have been putting this on all the metal surfaces on my G.P.R. from day one, and so far so great! it has a vapor phase corrosion...
