    pietta 1851 timing ?

I have a Pietta 1851 Navy that was the same way. Looking down the barrel it was very evident. I had to get a new cylinder bolt stop and do some filing and fitting, (to much to mention here),to get it right. PITA.

O.K. Where are all the #10 Caps

Bobby I surely hope you are right. These "panic buyings" make it hard on all types of shooting.

O.K. Where are all the #10 Caps

Seems the panic buying of metallic cartridges and reloading supplies has slowing spread to the black powder market. Alot of "out of stock" replies when looking for round balls. :headslap: I cast most of my own, but at times it is nice to pick up a box or two of Hornady or Speer roundballs.

Expected accuracy from Efield rifled musket

Swannie, hello. If I may be allowed to relate my experiences with the shooting the .577 Enfield, it might be of interest. I have two Enfields, a Euroarms 3 band and a Parker Hale two band. The PH Enfield gave me problems from the go as to grouping. At fifty yards, it would group 3-4 inches for...

    what size caps??

All I can get locally are CCI so I buy CCI #10, and took all the nipples from my various revolvers and polished them down to fit perfect. A coat of cold blue and they are good to go. I get 100 percent ignition with CCI when they seat all the way down and snug. #11 always seem a little big for...

    What make of pistol?

Sorry for so many posts, but I went and looked over my Piettas and Ubertis. The hammer thumb portion seems to have had the horizontal pattern lines of a Pietta over which someone added a diamond pattern. Maybe some hammers were made this way, so this could be a mistake on my part. Also from...

    What make of pistol?

Just noticed another item. The screw heads and slots seem near perfect, not battered or chewed up from the use of improper screw driver. A revolver in this condition would not have such nice looking screw heads.

    What make of pistol?

The ball rammer and plunger look too good for a handgun in this condition, the brass trigger guard is not beat up enough, as with the rammer and plunger, too many clean lines, and sharp edges compared to the overall condition. The cones are too new. The trigger itself looks too good. One...

    Pocket Police

I have a Uberti with the 6.5" barrel. The pocket police is a very nice revolver. Which ever barrel you get, you will like it. Like all Colt percussion revolvers, they shoot high, but you can easily correct this, a piece of brazing rod, some file work, and good to go.

    safety pins on 1851 Colt

Did all original Colt 1851 Navy 36 cal. revolvers have the safety pins on the rear of the cylinder? These are the pins that the hammer is notched for and that were used as a safety when the weapon had 6 loaded chambers. And no, I do not consider it a safe practice, as loading 5 and the hammer...
