Blanket guns, are they worth it?

Looks like great fun to me! If I want something and can afford it, I always find a way to justify it.

Do you get your smoothies REALLY clean?

That grey would be lead. Patching won't remove that. A few strands from a copper scouring pad wound around a loose bore brush will remove it easily.

    Butch's Black Powder Bore Shine

I have used that, and it does work well. I made up a mix of rv antifreeze and water to use as a cleaner, and it works just as good, I find.

Dimensions of Pedersoli Kentucky vs. Lym. Plains Pistol

First thing I noticed when I got my Pedersoli pistol, was when I picked it up, the barrel just kind of naturally was pointed up due to the grip shape. And it just feels right to hold and aim one handed too, maybe because it's muzzle heavy.

    Rough barrel question

I have been looking at those cheaper bore scopes, too. You get what you pay for, of course, but they have to be better than just a flashlight, I think.

    Rough barrel question

I went back today with my cleaning rod and he allowed me to push a patch through the barrel. It went evenly all the way, except for a couple spots that snagged the patch. That has got to be metal that is protruding out, not rust pits, I figure. Still thinking about this one.

    Rough barrel question

I was looking at an apparently new Pedersoli Kentucky rifle at a local gun store recently. It has been there for quite some time, I think, but unfired, I am sure of. I looked down the bore with my flashlight, and could see visible machine marks, and roughness. I obviously couldn't run a patch...

    critiques please

I stuck a piece of foil tape to the base of a .38 case and dropped it down my .45 barrel. Works great. Tried reflective tape as well, that's good too. edit. didn't mean in response to the above poster, just in general. I'll get the hang of this yet.

    Pedersoli Charles Moore .45

Yes, I was thinking that as well, I will get a supply of .440 and .445 balls to try out. Before I buy a mold.

    muzzleloader import into US

You can take gun parts, ammo, and reloading components into Canada, no problem with Canadian customs, it's the US side that has export restrictions on these items. Permits can be applied for, but it is time consuming and expensive, and not worth it for small amounts.

    muzzleloader import into US

Best thing to do is get the permit from the BATF,Form 6NIA. You can get it online, in case you didn't know,as well as a state hunting license, and then on your way back, you have proof the rifle wasn't purchased in the USA. Basically, you can bring back any powder and bullets/balls you brought...

    Pedersoli Charles Moore .45

All I have is Goex 3f. IF I use a .445 ball, according to Pedersoli, then I need a .010 patch. Can you find Linen or pillow ticking cloth that thin?

    Pedersoli Charles Moore .45

Yes,it appears very well made. I have to gather all the supplies I will need, and then off to try it out.

    Loyalist Arms Bess

No experience with loyalists guns myself, but Blair claims that his Indian made guns are made a lot better than most others from that country, and are better than originals.

    Loyalist Arms Bess

You could also ask Blair at loyalist to measure that for you, could be a money saver for you. The good thing about buying from him, is everything he sells gets a going over from his gunsmith, and if you ever have an issue later you can't handle, they can. Wouldn't it be great if all dealers did...

    Pedersoli Charles Moore .45

I just bought one of these pistols new. The box contained a manual with no specific info other than powder load data, and a wonderful cd about this heroic family, and some of their products, but again absolutely nothing about this pistol. Their website is no better, although it does have an...
