I just bought one of these pistols new. The box contained a manual with no specific info other than powder load data, and a wonderful cd about this heroic family, and some of their products, but again absolutely nothing about this pistol.
Their website is no better, although it does have an schematic drawing of the internals.
I would like to know what diameter ball, and thickness of patch works best, if anyone knows, and also what size nipple and wrench is needed.
This is my first muzzleloader, so all is new to me. thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome.
The web site recommends a 036U520445 ball which is .445. As far as the patch a.010-.015 should work but you may have to try several thicknesses to get the perfect one. I find that my .45 pistols like a thinner patch with a filler of corn meal or cream of wheat between the powder & ball. Have fun and be safe.

As pointed out a.445 ball. My percussion likes 10 grains of 3F at 25 and 50 yards and the flint likes 15 grains of 3F at 25 and 50. I use a 6 o'clock hold at both yardages for line matches.

Patch, I use .015.

Pedersoli uses 1/4X28 in all their percussions.

Nipple wrench, I use the Tedd Cash pistol wrench, the best that there is.

Buy a "pistol" powder measure, 0 to 30 grains, much easier to use than a rifle measure.

Do a search for pistol loading stands, makes loading much simpler and safer.

Charles Moore, very nice pistol. My only dis-like is that by the end of day, they are a bit muzzle heavy, but are proven winners and they have a following.

For loading using a filler, watch the Youtube short movie by capandball [Mr Nemeth, Hungary's #1 BP pistol shooting champion] - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJgPT9Gzhuc

Sure, it's a .36cal LePage he's shooting, but it will give you a good idea of what is involved in correct loading procedure.

I take .44 balls and a patch .010 (0,25mm), also 17grn of Switzerland 2 BP for Shooting at 26ft (25m)

26ft is only 7.92m. That's a VERY short range!

25m is 82ft.

Got a Pedersoli .54 Kentucky pistol last summer. Wrote Pedersoli with serial number and request for date of manufacture, they sent back date of manufacture, date and vendor shipped to, and accuracy loads as well as hunting loads for my pistol. Best of all, I had that information within 48 hours.

All that could easily be included with a new firearm. But since it isn't, shoot them an email. I wish you the best with them and your new gun.

Ohyeah, that flinter of mine likes .535 ball with .015 patch, over 40gr FFF Goex. It is slightly feisty in the hand, acceptably accurate on paper, and funner than all heck to shoot.

Ryan...all I can say is that you got yourself a Beautiful great shooting pistol...I have LUSTED AFTER THEM FOR MANY YEARS... it is a pistol to be Very Proud of owning........

Yes,it appears very well made. I have to gather all the supplies I will need, and then off to try it out.

25-35 grains of 3f ,ball patched firm not tight , carefull if you are using swiss powder it has more velocity and pressure so reduce by 10% .

All I have is Goex 3f. IF I use a .445 ball, according to Pedersoli, then I need a .010 patch. Can you find Linen or pillow ticking cloth that thin?

Linen is that thin. Pillow ticking is much thicker.

Look for a pure, 100 percent cotton material with a tight weave. If you hold the material up to the light it is more difficult to see light thru.

Some companies used to offer pre cut patches that were .010 thick so you might find some of those at a gun store.
If they are "Pre-Lubricated", pass on them. Most likely they are old and have lost their strength.

You will find .440 balls good and much more room to select patch thickness to suit .

Yes, I was thinking that as well, I will get a supply of .440 and .445 balls to try out. Before I buy a mold.

I have used Eastern Main patches and they are good especially for those who don't want to make their own.

I really like them, no complaints at all. Going to order some more in the morning.
